benfits of SD gecko?

If I have my GC modded with a Swiss WKF what are the benefits of keeping an SD gecko wired to it? Is there things I can't load from the WKF that I can from the SD gecko? My portables case doesn't have room where I planned to fit the SD Gecko slot so I'm wondering if I should have it. Thanks!

SD gecko is useful for homebrew, not backups. If you don't mind not being able to save in homebrew then it's not necessary.
