Hello all I have been fighting with my computer since 2012 when I bought it on the day windows 8 came out. Last night I was waiting for my FREE upgrade to windows 10 pro which is funny since I have a pirated copy of 8.1 pro they could not tell. So I got the upgrade and the problems that came with it. My computer keeps shutting down because of a power error? Some of my drivers are not working because they are not up to date with windows 10. I will say the UI is soooo much better now then windows 8/8.1 and xilinx IMPACT is now working. WBFS 4.0 64-bit is now working as well so the windows 7 compatibility is back and that's all I wanted.

I could not downgrade to windows 7 because a lot of my drivers were not setup for window 7. So I been waiting for this for a while BUT beware the update has many issues and problems. If you can wait till they iron out the issues so you don't run into problems that I'm having and it's not just me google it almost everyone is have some kind of problem.

P.S If you don't get the free update for whatever reason you can force the upgrade anyway google it

Are you on a laptop ? These things are hell when it comes to drivers. On my desktop a lot more hardware worked out of the box on 8.1 than 7, it even went and downloaded AMD catalyst for my GPU all by itself (I downloaded the beta version afterwards but still very nice).

Yeah its the most advanced laptop I ever bought. It was top of the line in 2012 it was ether that or an alienware laptop but I didn't need muticolored LEDs everywhere. Only one problem it came with windows 8.

Windows 8 was the worst windows UI I ever used I would ratter use windows 98 or windows ME. Just complete shit then when windows 8.1 came out I said to myself "thank god they fixed its problems" yeah right. I also had to pay for the upgrade!? yeah fuck that to the torrent site I go. But windows 10 pro is very nice looking now I just need it to work. I booted into safe mode right now hopefully a windows update will fix this major problem I'm having. It says "Internal_Power_error" I found out if I take out the battery and plug the AC power in by itself no problem at all.

To be honest 8.1 is fine. 8 is utter crap so when I built my desktop I installed 7 on it but a few months ago I reinstalled windows and went for 8.1 and it works which is what I want out of windows, since I only use it occasionally, mostly for games. I'll upgrade to 10 when I have the time to do it, for now I'm enjoying linux.

I love XP also its on my old desktop. But it doesnt do much good for a new or newer desktop or laptop. You can buy ones with downgrade rights but I didnt have that option

I fixed my laptop by updating the display driver. Doesn't shut off anymore it runs ok not as fast as 8.1 though. They killed internet explorer finally they replaced it with Edge still sucks downloaded firefox. Its much better then 8 but still not as good as 7 at least it was free

you always have the option to install linux then run XP thru virtualbox
