Does the gamecube support Dual-layer DVDs?

I was looking at some mini dvds and noticed there are more dual layer ones available now.
So has anyone tried, or does anyone know if the hardware is capable of reading these when only a single layer is used. Or when both are used for homebrew purposes for example?
I had an opportunity to pick up some Panasonic DL mini-dvds before but since use with the GC would be my main motivation to get those, I decided not to and investigate further first. Then, of course I forgot about that until today xD
