IDE-EXI Current Status

The boards were received a few days ago and I have since been prepping them by flashing/testing/soldering on the IDE connector. It's a time consuming process, but they should be ready for shipping in about a week - lets say by New Years.

Each one that will ship out to buyers will have been tested prior to shipping by me personally, but on arrival there will be no refunds if "my HDD/SATA->IDE adapter/etc doesn't work with it".

I've also at the same time been working away trying to get lots of software ready for the IDE-EXI to utilize - as you can see in this thread: http://www.gc-forever.com/forums/viewto ... f=23&t=331

In terms of pricing for the device, I haven't fully decided yet. I'd like to make some money from the device that will go towards the site, but generally, I like to keep prices low.

Stay tuned!

Can you give a general idea of the price? What do you have in mind? more/less than $100?

Around the $30 mark (AUD), give or take $5. I haven't quite figured out what they owe me so far, once I do, I'll put up a final price.

Tested it with a SATA HDD connected through a SATA->IDE Bi-lateral device and all is good :)

ETA on availability is looking like <2 weeks at the moment.

I've decided that I really want one of these too, does it look like this run of 100 will sell out? I'd hate to miss the first run and have to wait.

BUT i don't think that they will in like 2 days or something so you'll have enought time.

I'd like to put in a order :-P how much for UK shipping?
Just one question though can you debug or find codes like Wiird with this unit also? I don't want to have to buy another piece of hardware for that function also, is it possible to integrate usb gecko into the actual final circuit? as far i'm aware it's open source on google code. I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra say 50 AUD including p&p.

shipping to UK might be cheaper through liquitt as he will be selling the adapters from where he is based in the EU. I can 100% confirm that this will not be able to debug or find codes in any way as it is. The CPLD is quite full and as such, there's no room for such code. The device itself will be quite flexible (given a limited amount of memory) for skilled developers to do other things with it (a basic EXI peek/poke device perhaps), but I will only support the IDE functionality of it. The hardware is also totally different, this is a very simple single cpld whereas the usb gecko uses a FTDI device which is basically a SPI to usb enumerator (quite expensive)

Ok thanks for letting know I'll contact him then when you release.

Do know of any reputable uk / eu sellers of the old usb gecko though?, i'm not bothered if it's second hand I just need the hardware I already have cable / software, I could only find the newest one beng sold for 60 AUD from a shady looking website.
