What is the purpose of the save settings option, in Swiss?

If I choose my DVD drive to load up Wind Waker, after the game is detected I can press X for options. I then can change a number of settings, such as force widescreen. (Still not sure the difference between Persp and Force). At the bottom it says Save and Exit. Where would such a setting be saved to? I have to redo this each time I play. Currently using a Viper Extreme. Swiss is being loaded from the Viper's flash memory.

It will only attempt to save to writable devices at the moment. Eventually I'll make it so that it'll try to save to the first writable device it can find.

Ah! Ok cool. That makes sense. Well if that ever happens, then great.
