Hey guys i wanted to know if there's any recent news about the PS3 being hacked yet?

I know that some dude named Geohot got the PS3's "rootcode"(or something like that.....I'm not sure what it's called) and that there's been a TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) on him, but is there any type of video or a forum that shows any progress of the PS3 being hacked soon???

I know that the PS3 is going to be hacked, the matter of fact is when......I just wanna see any type of physical evidence showing it.

You can run homebrew, Linux, etc.

You shouldn't be pirating games so please take the piracy discussion elsewhere. I got a PS3 for myself last month and just bought Modnation Racers, Uncharted 1 & 2, Heavy Rain, God of War collection, and the Sly collection. Got some good deals on Amazon and I enjoy having the actual games.

One CFW? No, there are a few, in order of release:
CFW 3.55 by Geohot (First Proof of Concept on World)

CFW 3.55 by Waninkoko (be carefull is to know to brick some models, he is working on v2 version)

CFW 3.55 by Wutangrza (he adds L1&L2 peek/poke, this is support for iso loaders)

CFW 3.55 by Kmeaw (first to unify all adventages of previous CFW)

CFW 3.41 by Hermes (support for Hermes Payload v4c - Spanish Scener yeeeeah!!!)

CFW 3.55 v2 by Waninkoko (Spanish Scener ^_^, release today (01/29/11), support Hermes Payload, Peek/Poke, more stable, etc)

CFW 3.41 by Rebug Team (not release yet)

which is better? I can't respond this question, I don't have an PS3, use google for investigate ^_^.

I've been wondering why they even need a CFW? I thought having the private keys meant we could run anything, as long as it's signed. I'm guessing it's for piracy?

I'm not sure, but you need a basic CFW, like Geohot's because you need an interface to install packages and run it, but make no mistake, the majority of CFW add features like Peek/Poke or Payloads used to load "backup"(coff coff).

I think there is not a possibility to run homebrew throght a USB Pendrive, except the original updater of firmware without using a Dongle.

So the existence of the CFW, like Geohot is to eliminate the need for a dongle and add this basic interface.

I think there are gonna be a lot of nice emulators, for the PS3, but it's gonna take a while i guess.

Hey emukidid......did'nt you used test wii64 on your PS3 a long time back???

Because if so.....would'nt it be possible to create a nitendo 64 emulator with far more speed and compatibility than it's current state on the wii???

Hey guys.....I can't believe I did'nt notice this ,but Sony updated their firmware to a 3.56 in order to prevent Geohot's Jailbreak.

I don't know if this affects the Jailbreak or not though.Any feedback guys???

they kind of prevent you from running own code. only a matter of time though.
