Can I use Swiss to copy and back up GameCube save data to an SD card ?
The other is, Is there a way to prevent file fragmenting because of patches being written each time you launch a game ?

Yes you can use Swiss to backup your save data from memory card to SD.

Yes you can use Swiss to backup your save data from memory card to SD.
Is that backup possible only with the Swiss function?
Or do you run other apps from Swiss? (For example, GCMM)

Swiss has this feature built in

Just enable File Manager in Settings and navigate to your SD card. There would be *.gci files that you can copy over to an SD Card via SDGecko/SD2SP2 adapter. I believe once GCLoader write functionality is figured out it will be also possible to copy onto it.

Okay, I'll give it a try.
After all, I'm worried that the save data of the game will disappear unless I back it up.

Yes it's always good to backup your data. I do save backups regularly. I have 15 years worth of playing GC games backed up

Some saves copied by swiss I could not use in Dolphin. And I think I tried to use on GameCube and it didn't work.
This never happened with GCMM.
Perhaps you should take this into consideration to avoid surprises in the future.

Does GCMM provide a safer backup?
Does that mean that if I back up with Swiss, I can't use it even if I copy the backed up data to a memory card again?
Then I don't think there is any point in backing up.

Somebody recently reported having problems with backups from SWISS, I don't know if it is the backup or the restore process, or both, that break the files, but you'd better use GCMM untill SWISS improves on this.
I don't know how much time it will take, but Extrems seems to work hard on making saving in-game straight to SD possible, we can hope managing the saves from SWISS will be fixed as well.

I have already deleted all my saves by mistake because of Japanese games. Thanks to the save/restore all saves function by pressing a few buttons, all my 121 files came back as if nothing had happened. It has always been a reliable tool for me.
The only problem I had was that it does not recognize the save of the Hunter - The Reckoning created by the GameCube. But he recognizes the created by Dolphin.
I ended up ignoring it.

I had this problem a long time ago. That could happen.
I managed to solve by repairing the save lines as hex editor. It just didn't make sense to continue using this procedure since there is GCMM.

I understand.
I will back it up with GCMM.
If a virtual memory card is realized, I definitely want to try it.
