Prototype controller board. Reading output?

I recently bought a weird controller board from China. It has two CNT-DOL ICs leading to a 6 pin connector.

It might be a security module intended to input a certain sequence during some factory processes. I want to apply power and read the output.

What's the best way to do this? I don't know how to use an oscilloscope, but I do have access to one.
I'd like to have a homebrew GC application so I could just plug this in (via an adapter) and see the output on screen.

Any thoughts?

Rvl-something are Wii era parts, not sure it will work on a GC, while it may be related somehow. External Controller adapter? Specific controller board, such as wired balance board or snow board controller?...
