Nobody I know ever talked about using the d-pad much when the GameCube first came out, but I find it takes less finger movement to use than the control stick, so I'm using it more often now.
What about the rest of you? Any games where you prefer to use the d-pad to the control stick?
Any games you prefer the d-pad on?

Most of the GC games I played back in the days utilised the pad for distinct use then the stick, so I never really had the opportunity to compare.
Now I have emulators and GBPlayer on my cubes and rather say the opposite: the pad on the gamecube is so "meh" that I use the stick more often to play SNES and GB games.

Yeah like Twilight Princess for example uses the pad to call up the map/items, but on the Collection screen it does nothing at all. In Wind Waker it does nothing on the Items/Quest Status screen. I think if more games were programmed to utilize it, even if just another way to navigate menus in addition to the stick like Kirby Air Ride, it would have a better reputation.
