Does anyone know if the GameCube has ever been connected to a PC via the second serial port or the parallel port in the way it has been done for the Dreamcast and older consoles?

I guess since broadband connection to the PC was possible early on, no one bothered with a slower interface. It would be interesting to see if anyone attempted it

You can also use the Viper GC Extreme USB as an interface to the cube!

Thanks for your responses. I was thinking of maybe getting access to the GameCube memory while it is running a game, for example, or possibly even controlling the console somehow from an external system.

Or if you have a BBA you can try gcnrd, wouldn't advice you buying a BBA for that, since I never got gcnrd working on my cube.
And if you where to use a usb gecko, you can use wiird.
@_Nold_ did you by any change get gcnrd to work? If you did/do can you please share it with me?

BTW, did anybody try to build a coder cable just with an FTDI ?
EXI bus is king of SPI-like, so It should work with an FTDI (maximum speed on SPI @26Mhz :/).

USBGecko is an FPGA which uses the same protocol as FTDI (and it cost 30$ :]).
I'm just wondering if anybody tried to build his own coder cable.
