Nintendo is a Japanese video game company founded in 1889. The company was originally a hanafuda playing card manufacturer. Nintendo would release their first home video game consoles in 1977 with the Color TV-Game line. Their first console with interchangeable media was the Family Computer (Famicom), later redesigned and rebranded as the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1985. They would be followed up with the Super Famicom in 1990 and Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1991 and afterwards the Nintendo 64 in 1996.

The company would release the Nintendo GameCube in 2001.
