Re: [SOLVED] WASP Fusion + MEGAdrive v3 = Trouble booting?

I just thought it was weird that Swiss would autoboot on 1.0, but not 1.1.

Re: [SOLVED] WASP Fusion + MEGAdrive v3 = Trouble booting?

Since Swiss didn't see the WKF 1.3 update as a valid ISO, I decided not to try a franken firmware. I then successfully transplanted the MEGAdrive v3 (close fit!) and WASP into my Panasonic Q. Interestingly enough, the exact setup that only produced autoload on IPL1.1 instead got full autoboot on IPL...

Re: [SOLVED] WASP Fusion + MEGAdrive v3 = Trouble booting?

When I boot, Swiss is automatically inserted, but not automatically launched. Which is "proper" autoboot, the former or latter?
I have 2 WASPs, so if I try to franken a Swiss menu onto Wiikey 1.0 firmware, can I boot the working one and hotswap in Swiss to flash back if it goes wrong?

Re: [SOLVED] WASP Fusion + MEGAdrive v3 = Trouble booting?

Yes, I did mean Pin 29.

I'm curious now. What's the point of flashing 1.0? I just flashed Swiss straight from the stock 1.4 firmware and it seems to be working fine, though I haven't transplanted it into my IPL1.0 Panasonic Q yet.

Re: [SOLVED] WASP Fusion + MEGAdrive v3 = Trouble booting?

Problem solved. Turns out [P29]/GND must be toggled at least once while the system is on.
Everyone else reading this, drive down to your local RadioShack and get those normally closed switches!

Re: WASP Fusion + MEGAdrive v3 = Trouble booting?

My WASPs didn't come from BadAss Consoles, so I assume they came with Wiikey firmware.
Neither my FAT32 2GB SD Card nor my 32GB WBFS SDHC card had any effect in the Wiikey reader.
The error message cycling still happened with no SD inserted at all.

[SOLVED] WASP Fusion + MEGAdrive v3 = Trouble booting?

I recently got 2 WASP Fusions and 2 MEGAdrive v3's, and I've been trying to get them to work in my IPL1.1 Gamecube. The Gamecube at first would only tell me there was no disc inserted, at which point I realized my MEGAdrive did not have any connections soldered. After soldering P29 to GND and the tw...

Re: Game Boy Interface

No, you don't use any cable. The link port must be free, as it has precedence over the internal serial link. This is enforced in hardware. The internal serial link is normally used for rumble. SD Card to GBP acting as the GBA. I see now. I don't suppose the SD Card can be used as a DLDI storage dev...

OH, so we just use a standard GBA link cable, with one end in the GBP. Gotcha :)
Though, I thought I remembered you saying the GBP is basically a frameserver. I'm surprised the GC has access that deep.

Extrems the GOD
I'll have to learn more about the Xboo functionality. Is it explained when launching the full version DOL?

EDIT: Theoretically, GBI could now be used on a Wii for GBA save dumping/restoring, among other Xboo stuff, correct?

Re: Guide to using cheats in Swiss

All right, multiple people have requested I post my modified build. Therefore, I have created a proper fork of the project and committed my changes. The fork can be found at https://github.com/FishamanP/swiss-gc My fork can be built with the same setup as for the original, no modifications required....

Re: Guide to using cheats in Swiss

Ah, yep. It's not an ideal, extensible solution for codes, but it's better than what's there now.
But if the code there needs restructuring anyway, it would be foolish to commit this.

Re: Home Bros.

It says to restore both saves, but there's 3 for GALE and GALJ, but only 1 for PAL.. Do you not put 00-00 on, just 00-01 and 00-02? The 3 different numbered versions correspond to the 3 versions of Melee. You can find yours by looking at the inner ring on the unlabeled side of the disc. It should g...

Since I'm on Windows, I made a git patch instead of a UNIX one. I hope that's interchangeable enough. http://pastebin.com/RTWNcbh7 Also, none of the codes in the bugged file I linked have blanks or XX's in them. Each and every code line is 8 hex characters, a space, 8 more hex characters, and a newl...

I made a small modification myself to show where the cheat file was looking. There is a bug after all. Re: Guide to using cheats in Swiss

You're not putting the cheat files on the right spot In this example, the for Metroid Prime NTSC the cheats file would need to be named GM8E01.txt and would need to be placed on the SD in /cheats/GM8E01.txt I just quintuple-checked. sd:/cheats/GC6E01.txt is exactly how I have it for Pokemon Colosse...

Re: Game Boy Interface

By the way, will the project go open source at some point? While I love open-source software, I'm a little wary of the source for this being widely available. In the speedrunning community, there is potential for abuse if e.g. turbo was enabled in the LL version. Or, say, a key macro that automatic...

Re: Guide to using cheats in Swiss

Using Swiss 0.4 r326 (the latest as of this writing) and trying to load up cheat files, the cheat window never pops up. Instead, the second line of the game's banner info disappears, and the rest of the app remains functional and responsive. I have tried with both a custom cheat file for Super Smash...
