Be sure to install an official MIOS, cMIOS/DIOS-MIOS will cause problems with the WKF. If I remember correctly MIOSv8 worked best for me.

Tweak your pot. If burned discs spin down but originals work and you can access to XenoGC menu, it's probably the pot.

Swiss is a really great piece of software. But now that DIOS-MIOS is out, it doesn't really make sense to fix Wii-specific bugs, IMHO.

That's the new version of the GC Action Replay, which doesn't let you add your own codes and therefore blocks the SDload method. You can find the old version on eBay (without "Wii compatible" on the box), but it's probably more expensive than SD Media Launcher!

You could also use letterbomb to launch homebrew without installing anything if you're on 4.3. Otherwise, Bannerbomb will accomplish the same thing for (almost) any other firmware. By the way, no one bricked their Wii by installing HBC yet :) So if you don't install any additional crap, you're fine.
