Just in case anyone else needs to know this, I figured out the offset for partner attacks that controls whether an attack makes contact or not. It's [Base Struct Address] + 0x7B. There's 3 values for that byte: makes contact, doesn't make contact, doesn't make contact but still can get hit by spikes...
