Re: XenoGC and Panasonic Q

I have built a XenoGC and installed it in my Q but it doesn't work. The red LED turns off and then immediately on again. I guess the next step will be to try to get some debug output over the USART.

Let me know what you find. I finally have a working build environment and I am waiting for some Atmega8A chips to arrive.

You could also get an adapter cable, but soldering is probably cheaper: http://www.solarisjapan.com/d-terminal- ... able-male/

Re: Italian starfox assult - change language ?

It is the same disc for all European releases (DL-DOL-GF7P-EUR) only a different case and manual. There is English, French, German, Italian and Spanish on the disc. It defaults to the language you have selected on your cube.

Check out Retr0Bright: http://retr0bright.wikispaces.com/
It worked great on my SNES, Dreamcast and Wavebird but it barely made a difference on the front of my Gamecube.

Re: XenoGC and Panasonic Q

Emu, do you know where I can find documentation on how the GC drive works? I have disassembled the drive codes from libogc and when you diff them you can see that all the opcodes are the same, only some values and addresses are different for each drive version. Some of it matches the Xeno code. It s...

Re: XenoGC and Panasonic Q

I was thinking about that too. I have already found the Q drive code in libogc/dvd.c, but I don't really understand yet how the Xeno code works. It looks like you can't just copy paste the drive code from libogc.

Re: XenoGC and Panasonic Q

In his first post he claims that it works, but in his second post he says that he never tested it.

I have just checked the XenoGC source code and I can only find drive 04, 06 and 08 so unless the Q is compatible with any of these it probably isn't going to work.

Re: XenoGC and Panasonic Q

Yes that's why I am asking. Opening the Q isn't a fun thing to do, so if the Xeno has no patch code for it I don't even have to try it.

XenoGC and Panasonic Q

Since I have my Panasonic Q I was under the impression that it is impossible to use a XenoGC because it has a different board layout and no one knew the solder points. But yesterday I came across this: http://www.gamefreax-forum.de/hardware-gamecube/11746-check-das-xeno-gc-im-panasonic-q-habe-verdae...

Re: Refresh plastics *RetroBrite*

Thanks for sharing this information. I have a controller port cover and a dreamcast which has some light yellowing and was thinking of painting them. Will probably try this instead. I don't think this will work on the aging yellowing of NES/SNES cases, anyone know? I have used it on several SNES an...

Re: Possible to connect gamecube to pc/laptop

It is possible, but most video capture devices cause too much delay for gaming. I have an internal capture card and there is about 0.5 sec delay. Maybe it will work if you get one with a hardware encoder, but they are expensive.

Region Mod

I have a Japanese cube which I want to change to USA. I have found this tutorial: http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/nintendo/gc-region.htm , but instead of using a switch I want to make it permanent. Is it safe to directly connect the points at R6 or do I need to add a resistor? In the tutorial he i...

If the XenoGC drive code is more reliable, would it be possible to use it as external drive code in Cobra?

I don't know if you can use the LCD, but you can put the frontlight of the GBA SP in a regular GBA. Someone at benheck did it: http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=27338

Re: The 56K Modem - DOL 012.

You can try to set up a dial-up server on your PC and then connect to that. I know people are using this method to get online with a Dreamcast. ( http://www.maturion.de/dreamcast/mterlouw/ ) But I don't think there is any homebrew that is compatible with the dial-up modem. You will have to use a gam...

Re: PAL composite connector

Yes NTSC on a PAL cube works fine with both composite and RGB output. And isn't the resistor in the picture 75 ohm and not 71?

Edit: Just took my cable apart to check:
Capacitor: 220μF 6.3V
Resistor: 75 ohm 5% tolerance

Colored corners

I have always noticed that all Gamecube games have a colored corner (see picture). I have never really thought about what it meant, but I recently found out that it indicates where a game is from. So far I have only seen 3 colors, blue from The Netherlands, green from the UK and red from France. Thi...

Re: Panasonic Q question

You killed your Q?
Is the GC board in a Q exactly the same as a normal cube? Maybe you can replace it with a PAL board so you can play PAL games in color.
