Re: Gamecube Jewel Restoration Guide
Only thing to note is to not polish the sticker jewel and only polish the jewel that is a thick plastic piece that actually pops out.

Re: GCPlug Information - Inc firmware updates
Sounds about right. The firmware was complied by different people as it wasn't being complied and posted in the main repo until some later 3.0 firmware. It may not be a deliberate modification and it's possible the only difference would be the HWID number that was chosen doesn't match up with what's...

Re: GCPlug controlled by gamepad?
The pin def wasn't in the main repo until 3.0something IIRC. It's possible whoever complied the firmware has specified something different. If you have a hardware flasher, I'd update the firmware first.

Use a fuse that has a higher voltage than what it is protecting, keep amperage the same.

Re: Concerns About Recently Acquired Pre-Modded DOL-001
The clock should maintain time correctly for a few minutes after shutdown, but a dying battery can cause the dates to be incorrectly retained. I assume you don't have a multi-meter to check voltages? See if you can find controller port module with new battery installed, it's probably easier than to ...

I have a some extra parts for clones here too with 3D printed cases. I'm in California, USA if anyone in the US is looking for one. Most likely not worth shipping internationally.

It most likely struggling to read the disc. Trial and error by adjusting the potentiometer, or try a different brand of media disc and possibly burner.

IIRC a lot of downloads were in forums requiring logins so I'm not sure how much the wayback machine has. The wayback does have sksapps archived though, and there is a active torrent of sksapps downloads section available as well. https://web.archive.org/web/20100102003949/http://sksapps.com/index.p...

Re: GCHD Mk2 - upgrading firmware
Make sure the driver is installed and try different versions of the software. I have heard some software doesn't seem to work as well for some. Also note to use the pin header on the CH341A programmer, as some of the software will have the chip orientation flipped on the socket due to (probably diff...

Check sksapps archives, they mirrored a bunch of files including a few open source Wii chip codes.

Re: IPL settings (language and clock) are not getting saved. Battery already replaced
Clean the areas with isopropyl alcohol before trying to take measurements. The battery is connected to Pin 1 of the front panel socket. Ensure you are getting battery voltage on the circle test point under R16 (might be R15?, it's left of C74). R16 looks dodgy. It should have low resistance, a few h...

I had a email from him the other day. Firmware 1.1 supports SD2SP2. There's also a version 2 of the chip that has some extra storage space for dol storage. I haven't played with it or know much about it though.

Re: IPLBoot on XenoGC
But a DIY build XenoGC with a bigger flash memory, would that work then?? It's source code is release so you could, but there's not much point as it's a drive chip so it probably can't boot anything unless there's a disc in the drive. You're better off developing a IPL replacement chip or just wait...

Re: GCVideo 3.0a for Chinese GCPlug ?
It's really clever, you can put the device into update mode from the OSD. Then you run the updater.dol - this homebrew actually encodes the new firmware into the video signal. The FPGA grabs the new code and updates the firmware. I think I recall some very early component to HDMI adapter dongles fo...
