Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
This is a gamecube forum, if you're using a wii you should have just said that at the beginning. Devolution can force any game to progressive mode (576p for 50Hz mode or 480p for 60Hz mode). I was using Gamecube. It's just because I had no luck with it I tried to use Wii. Can devolution force true ...

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
I have partially good news. With the newest version of Nintendont (rev. 371) you can play the PAL version in 480p/60Hz! Why is that only partially good? Because it's not true 480p, it looks like it's 240p upscaled to 480p but even than the picture looks much better than 480i. I hope it will be possi...

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
Now I get black screen when using both 480p and 576p in Swiss. It works when forcing the 480p in DIOS MIOS but the picture is deformed.

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
I'm pretty sure that I tried forcing 576p. I'll try it again when I get home. By the way the game booted fine through SD Gecko without forcing the progressive scan so it's safe to assume that the media used is not the problem. Regarding Metroid Prime, read the note that's on the bottom of the list (...

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
I'm running it through SD Gecko. I'll give it another try, it should work according to the compatibility list.

I tried to run the game forcing 576p but the only thing I get is black screen. No luck there.Streetwalker wrote:Swiss can actually force 576p in games, have you tried the latest version ?

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
It does look noticably worse than 480p but it's still better resolution than on i.e. Nintendo 64 that ran most of the games at 320x240 (versus 640x240 on Gamecube at 480i/60fps). But I saw the difference between 480i and 480p and cannot go back. That's why I'm trying to find out if it is possible to...

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
Why not force 576p? Otherwise you could get the NTSC version, if you really want 480p. That's no way to force 576p, or at least the software I use doesn't offer it. And the NTSC version of the game doesn't have all later revisions implemented (and some of them are quite big). I think you need to go...

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
It looks very good in 576p, so I don't know what your problem is. There is no way to run the game in 576p. Not that I know of. Because true 480p is still better than 576i Wrong. Progressive scan will double the framerate, not the vertical resolution. If you have a good deinterlacer on an LCD or pla...

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
Because true 480p is still better than 576i (or 288p doubled if you force the progressive scan in Metroid Prime 1). I have US version of the game and it looks more detailed in 480p (but it lacks the enhancements from the JPN and PAL versions). Even emukidid confirmed that the game doesn't run in tru...

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
Yes, I have the component cable, I have imported it from Japan. Even if I can turn progressive mode in Metroid Prime 1 using 50 Hz option, the screen is stretched and the game runs a little faster. And as I said before, to me it looks like the resolution is not improved.

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
That's why I was wondering if it is somehow possible to put it back. The code exists, but in different version of the game. It should be compatible, more or less. The problem is my knowledge of file structure of the GC games is limited so I don't know where to look. Or what to try.

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
I'll try to put it differently. When you boot up a PAL game, you'll often see a question if you want to turn on the 60 Hz mode. I guess it's some kind of loader that manages it. Would it be possible to modify the files on the disc so I'd get the question whether I want to turn on progressive scan or...

Re: Enabling 480p in PAL games
Well I should be more specific. I want to play PAL Metroid Prime in 480p. Swiss can play Metroid Prime in 480p but the picture is squished horizontaly and the game runs a little faster. And it seems that it doesn't improve the resolution, it looks like it's just 240 lines doubled to 480 lines. That'...

Enabling 480p in PAL games
Hi. I was wondering if it is possible to somehow denable 480p in PAL version of games directly by editing the files on the disc. For example Metroid Prime 1. PAL version is superior to NTSC one because it is more balanced and it contains new stuff. But it doesn't support progressive scan. Theoretica...

Re: can't figure out Swiss cheats
I have another question. I have some WiiRD codes that I want to apply through Swiss using a retail disc. Can it be done (I own SDGecko)? I know that Swiss can read GCT files but I don't where I have to put them and how to name them. Thanks for any suggestion.

Hi megalomaniac! Too bad I found out about your mod only today as I would order one of those PCBs. I hope you're still working on this thing because it's amazing. Now if only somebody could reverse engineer the MX chip and make a cheaper equivalent... I hate when people charge for an official compon...
Re: Swiss 0.2
I already tried that, but it gives nothing but black screen. I think it would be possible. The problem is, I don't know how should I hack the .dol file to make it work. However I managed to toggle English in the JAP version of Metroid Prime. Problem is that text is too big and is overlapping the tex...
Re: Swiss 0.2
Paar86, planning to add 576p support at some point for PAL forcing to look a bit more decent but that's as far as it can probably go. That would be nice. So, would it be true 576p or "just" 576i picture displayed as progressive? It's really shame that it's impossible to boot PAL Metroid P...
Re: Swiss 0.2
Hi everybody. How exactly works "force 480p"? I tried it with my PAL Metroid Prime and it seems that it's not in full 480p, but rather in 480i format which is converted to progressive scan (the picture is still a bit blurry). And because it's running in 50Hz, it seems that the gameplay is ...
