Re: Best homebrew setup

Hello and welcome. I have to say you're quite set up, need one or two memcards, and at least one flash card reader Gecko or SP2 flavour. No need to mod the Cube as you go the hacked save route. First, you have to understand that the save exploit tries to load a GC executable off a memcard named Boot...

Re: Flashing Swiss to Qoob Pro memory through Disc/SD

Either way you flash it, you might want to flash a boot forwarder instead of the full SWISS, so that you keep enough space for other utilities, such as GBI, GCMM, whatever, update Swiss with the ease of just copying it to your SD, and prevent your qoob's flash from multiple writes wear. There are la...

Ha, reinstall Windows! What kind of person would ruin their entire Windows setup just to use an emulator like Dolphin, because the developers could care less about helping users? Calm down and just consider doing a clean install on a Virtual machine, no need to format your whole PC, Virtual Box is ...

Re: Blueretro not detecting GameId - swiss config required?

There probably isn't any game ID transmission provision in game, so the Blueretro adapter has to be connected when it is sent, probably from SWISS, at launch time. ;)

Re: Anyone excited for the MemCard Pro GC?

If you always clean the card without using chemicals before connecting, it only remains to check what you use to connect the cards. Thanks for the advice, I'll try to keep that in mind from now on. 8-) Never had any OEM Nintendo cards and no problem so far except with Collector or master quest save...

If that doesn't do, try to replace IGR.dol forwarder with swiss's full dol.

Re: Boot from SDGecko

That should work either way, I personally boot Swiss off a 2GB SD card in slot B along with utilities and emulators, and 128GB card in SP2 with ISOs. Try to keep slot A free for game saves as much as possible for the sake of compatibility. Look for booting via a game save exploit, as dimming laser c...

Re: Anyone excited for the MemCard Pro GC?

I've never ever lost any GC memcard, not even chinese clones, while in the past two years, I lost three SD cards, 1GB, 4GB, and 64GB, risky saves, really?

Besides this, it is quite useful and more practical than saving raw cards from time to time, I have to admit.

Yes, still the easier way to do is to play GC, the real deal, or the RVL-001.
I have no problem with either flavour of alix controller, soft and hard sticks.

Re: New Life for older Emulators like CubeSX

Tinking around with old emulators and homebrew for GC you may hit this kind of issues more than you first expected. You'll find some who don't support SDHC, fat32, bigger size SD cards than an "arbitrary" size, SP2, multiple partitions or whatever with both often. So you'll find it is safe...

Re: Enhanced mGBA

Maybe this can be adressed using the original consoles' ROMS? GBI has the utility to dump the GBPlayer's one (don't remember if there is one to dump from a GBA with a GBA<->GC cable). GBA and GBPlayer are supposed to have the same roms, and the GBA behaves like the GBC in regards to "coloring&q...

Re: GBI - GCVideo Lite - Retro-bit

Happy to read that you didn't already buy anything and are stuck with it. ;) There are GC-Video devices that output RGB, GC-Video Lite may be turned to RGB output, but you need at least one more coax for that, and programming skills. Also Nintendo component cable can be modded to output RGB, and the...

Not sure why you bothered buying a GC-Video device to output 240p while you may just have bought a PAL, RGB compatible unit? You may have asked before buying. The other way would have been to buy Nintendo's OEM component or RGB cable for NTSC consoles (connecting to the Digital AV port), but ...

Re: XenoGC burning discs

Nowadays, there are so many better ways to run Isos on GC that except those who have already set up all the necessary bits to burn GC discs still do, newcomers go for flash medias.
Burning discs is not worth the hassle (Plus the risk to kill a laser module).

You just need an extra memcard where you won't save wind waker game progression, and a way to write on that said memcard. There is no such PC memcard reader, you need to run GCMM either on a GC with action replay, or on a Wii with the letterbomb exploit. Once you have put the corresponding save expl...

If you ever find yourself owning one of the exploitable games, you'll be able to setup something more straightforward to boot swiss directly from the sp2. If you only want to use isos on the sp2, with swiss on the sdgecko, go for exFat, if you want to boot swiss from the sp2 off a game save exploit,...

It's been discussed before but elsewhere, there are RAM expansions in the form of GBA carts, Nintendo itself made one to get along Opera for DS, but it won't be as fast as memory expansion straight on the exp connector, still, it would have to cope with access to the GBPlayer, or the players would h...

Re: orange GC converted to USA wont play PAL in color

Digital displays are those flat panel TVs, analog ones are the old school big CRTs. In a chain where both digital and analog are mixed anyway, the less you convert from one to the other, the better. Still, on a digital display, component is supposed to look better than RGB, only if you don't experie...

Re: orange GC converted to USA wont play PAL in color

Yes they will work, but if you have a digital display, go the digital way all along with HDMI instead, component connections are analog so they are potentially exposed to interferences. I have some 50Hz only games, and can tell you it's a bad Idea to try to force them to 60Hz, you probably won't nee...
