IDE-EXI Gerbers, Design Files, BOM, PDF and Program Files

Post by emu_kidid » Tue May 03, 2011 2:42 am

Since I won't have the time anymore in the near future to make another batch of IDE-EXI's, as promised, here are all the necessary files which were used to make the IDE-EXI that was sold to the public.

The contents of the .ZIP include:
- Design files (open with Altium Designer Viewer)
- Gerbers
- BOM
- PDF
- JED and UCF for the IDE-EXI (to program it with)

The source can be found elsewhere for the code on the chip (but remember to use the correct UCF):

Didn't realize, but I've also attached my .ucf (pin assignments) file for the IDE-EXI design.

Sent the files off a week and a half ago, soldered them today. The decoupling cap got stuck under the memory card cover. I now see why you don't have them soldered.
Anyway, thanks for the Gerber files!

It was for personal use, so I had five boards made since price increase isn't much.

Yeah, it's not worth their time to setup and make single boards so small additional of boards doesn't cost too much. It's a pain to get a single prototype of a board cheaply.

Not sure how much each board cost since I had other boards made and such, but I would guess it to be around $10-15 depending on how shipping cost got split up.

I'd take 2 or 3 if we have a new batch made.

I'm looking at getting another 100 made perhaps, cost would be about $10 less each to sell them as I save on certain setup fees with the PCB company..

But I'd need a few pre-orders first..

I didn't know there are still demand in these things. Thought all the attention went to the Wode.

Then again the design files had been downloaded 265 times throughout the year, wonder if anyone else had them fabricated.

I dont think that there is less demand, cause if Emu is finish with his DMA support the IDE EXI is nearly that fast as the Wode. Emu I would buy one or two.

Okay, let's say we let them produce 60 here in germany for example.
Then it would cost us about 700€ for the pcb's with both layers, coating, paint, and the smd components already soldered.
Additionally we need to buy the chips and other hardware parts, which will cost about 300€.
Then add some shipping costs and a bit foobar and we are at ~25€ per piece.
(Let's do it like assembler and start raising funds, lol )

I have it at about $1200 for 100 fully made if I re-use the same factory as before (excluding postage fees for the xilinx back and fourth from supplier to factory and then the ide-exi's themselves to me and to you), so about $15-$20 each.

Another batch???!!! Man, if I would have predicted this, I would have waited a little more to save some $$...anyway, more ide-exi users means there will be more new/updated homebrew for this adapter.

I would be interested in working out a deal with this. I had plans to get a batch myself and have been toying with an enclosure as well.
