as long as you can boot swiss using any method, even a wasp with very old swiss on flash, then you can always launch the latest dol without even have to flash wasp...

the biggest problem is if you create the flash incorrectly and corrupt your wasp...the recovery iso might not even work at that point and you would have to restore using alternate methods..
Yeah, I know that I can use the dol file.

The fact is that I'm a curious guy, nothing more. I like to know and learn new things everyday, that's all. And yes, I also know that there could eventually be a 'brick factor' on doing these things.

Sorry, but I can't get the point. I already use devkitPPC and libogc, I can compile swiss.dol by myself, for example. What I don't know is how to build an fzn file. But it isn't a need for me, I'll do other things if I can't get it, no worries. As I've already said, it's just for fun/curiosity. :)

Beginner questions:
I am booting Swiss via DVD.
Viper chip running cobra 1.6.
Cube: PAL 1.0

How can I stop the DVD motor once I am in the Swiss menu? (I already set the "stop motor on start up" setting)
It just keeps spinning, no matter what.

In the Wiki it says Swiss can dump games to SD Gecko. That is nice! But how do I actually do that?

Thank you!

To dump a game, copy the main file to your SD gecko from the Swiss menu (enable file management in the settings first).
Motor should stop, at least it does for me. Make sure your haven't enabled "force no DVD drive mode".

Enabled the file settings. I can now copy files from DVD to elsewhere. Unfortunately the motor still woun't stop, so I cannot put in a game...
Its not that important, I can still dump games with my Viper chip.

You're using a ViperGC, set the lid switch settings in the Cobra BIOS to "Original or passthrough".

Hey I'm using Swiss nightly build r334 v0.4 on a action reply sd media reader, there's a few games I'm having trouble with just wondering if there's any kind of compatibility list, I've tried all 3 Pokemon games and just get a green screen, and zelda the ocarina of time and a few other just say failed to find necessary functions for patching when I go to play then when that finishes the game loads then crashes any help

Thanks brooksie ✌

The Pokemon games are known to have some issues, but the Zelda OOT collectors edition should work.

Post specific games here and I can take a look: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=3218

Okay just a quick follow up question if I burn the iso's (Pokemon and others that don't work) on to a DVD-r instead of running them from an sd card will I have the same problem ?

Compatibility is much greater from dvd-r, far less is patched. However compatibility is low on which media your GameCube will happily read :P

What do you mean about the compatibility of my GameCube reading the media is low, do you mean there's certain DVD-r's that are better to use then others or that it's just a hit and miss on what games will or won't work, sorry about all the questions not long found my GameCube so I'm getting right in to it again.

Yeah it depends on the DVD brand, your burner, burning settings and how you adjust the laser. If you get these right, game compatibility is almost 100%.

Nice! Is there a way to get auto booted Swiss from WKF to read a swiss.ini?

With a NTSC cube running a modified component cable for RGB, the picture is all messed up in 480p. 480i mode works fine, but only saves if ran from SD gecko.

Copying the swiss.ini from SD gecko to WKF SD doesn't get read. I know swiss.ini can't be saved to WKF SD from Swiss.

Thoughts on forcing 480i?

Hold L when booting Swiss to avoid progressive mode - I'll have a look at allowing swiss.ini to be read from more than just SDGecko/IDE-EXI.

deckard, swiss.ini should be readable from WKF/WASP, but I'll make some changes to improve the handling of all that.

Cool, the holding 'L' work around will do just fine in the meantime. Thanks again. :)

0.4 r342 breaks rumble, at least for me.

Using an SD gecko, tried several games with the same result. Using a class 10 SanDisk as well.

It's working here... I didn't touch anything to do with PAD/rumble, what was the last build you tried and have you tried games not in Swiss since 0.4 "broke" rumble? (did your controller rumble just die?)

Rumble works fine for me as well using swiss 342 with SD gecko. Tested both Smash and Double Dash.

On a sidenote, the colours on Smash were not as they should be; yellow was blue/cyan. My setup is a PAL gamecube (so IPL 1.0) with component cables, using NTSC rips. However, Mario kart had correct colours using SD gecko (same SD card), and of course both games work fine trough wasp, which I use. I only tested SD gecko for rumble which worked on all 4 ports. No additional settings where used during testing (no cheats, swiss 480p forcing etc.).
Dream mod: HI-speed port device utilizing 4:4:4 RGB 32 bit colour, 720p video and variable refresh rate.
Favourite mod: GC Loader flashed with latest swiss.
Eagerly awaiting a normal, form-factor wise, wireless controller with rumble. :)
