Interchange between SP2SD and SD Gecko.

Post by Diego borella » Sat Mar 07, 2020 8:25 pm

Here is a speculation on my part.
Wouldn't a type of interchange between serial port 2 and slot b open more space to execute data?

The question is this: I fill my 32 GB SD card, until there is no disk space, 0 Kbits of space.
I put the SD in SP2sd;
After starting Swiss, I wanted to see Swiss forced to write data to SD Geckko. The folder: swiss_patches ...
my idea was to get the Swiss to write from SP2sd to Geckko. it did not happen, nor the other way around.
but one question is: where the folder is being recorded, there is no space on the SD2SP2 card, nor was there a swiss_patches folder recorded on the Sd with space in Geckko, nor was it written as I wanted; how are the games without the swiss_patches folder? and patches are applied and games run without errors.
the ISOs changed and were permanently applied with the patches of that Swiss revision ??? :?:

I think I have read in the r785 changelog that further created swiss patches folders will be hidden. :P

But I'm curious to know how SWISS behaves in case there is not enough space left on the ISO's SD for patches. :?

Probably badly, you might get some on screen error with nothing more.

So we have to always make sure there is a little spare space to allow for new patches to be written on it? 8-)

If it worked anyways, it was just out of luck? :P

it worked for me, I even managed to play the metroid prime, which is a game I know well, to know if there are any irregularities or not, and it worked ... As far as I played, there were no errors in the sound or any other part.
the games work normally ...

There is no Swiss_patchs folder, for sure! even as a hidden file, you can see it on Android or Windows. there is no patch folder.
my thesis is that the patches are being applied in ISOS.
I tested some games, and they worked

Nice if it worked!
I would have guessed the patches are small enough to keep in ram, or almost useless depending on the settings you chose, but better than guessing, Emu Kidid may just tell us.

Some discs, for example multi-dols ones are very long for writing patches, but maybe uselessly if at the end, we only run one of them all.

Your thesis is wrong. Some patches can be applied to the main executable but others on additional files will fail so any game using multiple executables will fail if the patches haven't been written for it. This would also break any sort of DOL/executable reloading in a game potentially.

Boot through IPL will also fail, and so will resetting in many games.

about the boot of IPL_ is there a way to implement the opening of the cap during the boot with the game originating in Switzerland ... ???
how to open the lid and close it as if the game were in the original unit ... but without starting the engine ...
???

I don't understand anything you're saying, but you can hold A during the boot animation to access the main menu.

let's go to an original game: when you hold A, enter the menu.
in the game guide, if there is a disc, the banner will be displayed.
if i open the cover, it will stop rotating and the banner will disappear.

it would be to implement this mechanism of opening and closing the lid, but with the Swiss game. :geek:
because in IPL_boot, when I open the lid, the game banner remains.

it may seem useless, but it can open a new. ()explorer. :!:

The Interchange was successful!
it is possible to carry out clean, torn and reduced isos.

No, it can't be achieved this way, the IPL you see is a patched one (from previously booting SWISS), so you can run ISOs from SD card. Nobody has been able to overwrite the original IPL by a patched one in the console itself (or is it?).

For the lid hack, maybe you can get what you want, booting an original disc with IPL from SWISS?

I must say that the Swiss do not have a patch for the Swiss.
only now has this been discovered. it was not possible to do so.
before and until now, boot automatically with IPL_boot only. still by swiss.

first part of the cake ... :!:

I look forward to the guidance and comments from the executives involved
e & E. _CIA

dol 001 working
dol 101 limited. nothing else goes into the IPL_boot.

does not run ISO Swiss. :(

I believe the lack of the SP2_gecko link is the cause ... :?

about my attempts to switch between SP2 and SD-gecko, getting some errors and some news.
the whole question is as follows:
after the Swiss was launched, with IPL_boot, I started thinking about things.
since I don't have a WKF or Wasp, I created a virtual flash that created a virtual WKF in my SRAM.

the follow-up was as follows.
when trying to start the Swiss via IPL_boot, it will freeze.
if you start without IPL_boot triggered, it will load a dol infinitely.
there is the following, when Dol is being loaded infinitely, execute the corresponding .fzn flash together with Dol ... which was in "loading". root of the SD.

do not put .fzn.fw! :!:

enter the .dol WKF menu, without resetting the Swiss, and save the settings. even without a wasp. it looks like 1.0 is the best and causes autoswiss.

how is the process: when the swiss is in the unit, above the r806, in the gamecube menu, when the banner appears, press reset and before loading the BIOS, the startup is automatic.
other lower versions will not work.

with that, I was able to run Mplayer, Swiss 0.1 and many ISOS that were not executable before.
and most interestingly, I used an old program, GCmutility 0.6, and the ripped ISOS work without problems. :)

now i wonder, what did i do, will it harm me in the game?
SRAM never seems to be deleted again! :(

Xeno seems to influence ...
