networking - alternative interfaces since Swiss v0.6r1545

Post by Borg Number One » Mon Feb 19, 2024 11:07 am

Hi.

Since Swiss v0.6r1545 Pre-release there are following new features:

"Enable networking to function with alternative interfaces."
"Force network init if ENC28J60 is detected"

Will it be possible to build Non-Nintendo BBA adapters for the GameCube in future?

Have the Swiss v0.6r1545 news something to do with:

Nothing much to build, apart from an SP1 or SP2 or even slot a or b (curious about which exactly is possible) connector adapter to the module you want to use.

I have asked the question in the Swiss's release topic, and given the answer that i got, its for everything except in-game network function at the moment.

Most of this info is over on webhdx's discord, it's on the github page here if you wanted to join and look through the related channels: https://github.com/webhdx

Swiss is becoming more flexible in terms of network support. The ENC28J60 is a popular Ethernet interface chip, and its detection and support in Swiss implies that the GameCube can use network adapters other than the official Nintendo Broadband Adapter (BBA).
