Note: Some DOL-101 boards are making problems... think it was always DOL-CPU-20...

The CPU-11 may work, its about a 50/50 chance with that revision. CPU-10's Will not work. Any NTSC revision higher than the 11 is pretty much a sure shot.

Is there any way to tell what motherboard is in the gamecube before taking it apart?

Not really. If the cube has no digital port then its a rev C. They're all compatible.

Does this mean that I should not attempt to install a Wiikey Fusion drive replacement chip in a JPN console that has a Digital AV Out port? (It's useful to know this before I start!)

i have got a pre-trimmed PAL DOL-CPU-01 here, you could use that one if you want.

it's compatible (tried it before trimming).. i made a "compromis" cut, so the dvd-port is still intact!
If you want it, just ask...

Thanks, but it has to be a Japanese console in my case. I've got one or two but I would like to know if it has to be one without a Digital AV Out port.

Best thing to do is run swiss on said cubes and see what IPL you have.

Thanks, I just tried it and I get IPL: NTSC Revision 1.1

It's actually a JPN Cube with some pins shorted out to make it a US version, but I'm going to change it back to JPN. Does that make any difference to the IPL?

Actually, that's just what I was trying to do and failed
Now I've got a fine soldering iron and magnifier so I might get it right next time :)
