Can a sd2sp2 be used as memory card?

Hello,

This is my first post here. The gc-loader did take my GC back from the attic. A I don't find my memorycards anymore but I did find my Wiikey, I wonder if a sd2sp2 also can be used as memorycard, to store the game saves? Then I don't have to put that ugly Wiikey with sd-card in the front of my GameCube.
There is little info about the sd2sp2, only you can load swiss from it with a mod-chip.

I never used the Wiikey as a memory card, is it another new SWISS feature I have missed? :oops:

If SWISS can save on a WiiKey, I don't see why it won't on an SD2SP2, unless it has to keep iso source device and save device distinct to avoid reading collisions/slows. :|

I definitely think SD2SP2 won't do the memory card job one day ...
counterpart sd gecko I believe it will be an implementation that will be added to the compatibility list. because I believe it will not be compatible with all games. the virtual memory card ...

looking in the past, seeing Nintendo's intentions (BIG_N) that have not been achieved: SP2 as an example.

swiss must have folders that will be read by default; they should be there.

because as the friend said below: the work would be an waste: for sd2sp2 memory card...

I ask:
transpose data from virtual memory card by sd2sp2, wouldn't it consume data flow? :?:

on a technical level it might be possible but considering the amount of effort to make such a thing work, and how few people would actually benefit, i'm not sure we should wait for this to arrive any time soon.

Oh yeah and sp2 is more or less memory card slot 3, not much different at all, so if a virtual memory card ever works, it'll work with that as well.

It's in the cards (pun intended), but the real issue is memory constraints.

There seems that some games already have hard times running with too much patches enabled, plus, there were some patches that are (were?) always enabled as default. In the commits, you can read: "- Use patch-free apploader for generic boot images.", maybe it is an attempt to run the lightest on patches on the ISO side to be able to run memory save patches at the same time.
Still, I wonder if using the same source/destnation card for ISO and save would cause issues that will need to use distinct cards, especially for games that may load from disc while accessing the memory card if it ever happens.

Apart from beeing able to run the game you booted off from an exploit when you only have one memory card at hand, I don't find much use for this ability at the moment. Big Memcards are still all around and OEM used ones too for quite cheap, so this is not as big a concern as beeing able to spare the Optical Assy and Discs lifespan.
