Help with .DOL file

Post by GundinfoSylvain » Wed Jul 05, 2023 12:12 pm

I have a .DOL of an obscure source port of DooM built for the gamecube. It was thought to be lost media, but I have a copy of it, and it seems to be corrupted by being stored on the Way Back Machine, as it only opens to a black screen no matter if its played on hardware or on an emulator:

Any idea what's wrong, or how to fix it? Or if there's anyone I should get in touch with that might be able to pull some wizardry on this?

It's not necessarily corrupt. It may have some specific requirements.

It likely expects an SD card in one of the front memory card ports with files in a specific location. Send a link to the DOL and perhaps we can peek inside to see if it has any references to file locations.

Doom ports usually don't come with WADs included, for copyright reasons. So you have to dig around for them and find the way to get them found by the game engine.
