I have a qoob pro with an older version of swiss installed (r450).
Is there a way of updating the swiss installed in the chip without having to connect it to a computer? I've tried copying the r1060 compressed dol to a sdcard on a sd gecko, but I can't seem to be able to erase the version from the chip on swiss.

Not at this stage, no. You can put a newer version of swiss at the root of a SD card as boot.dol assuming you have a SD Gecko (r450 is too old for SD2SP2 support).
