I have had an issue using this code on Dolphin 5.0-16101 (only this code enabled).
When starting a multiplayer Grand Prix on [Mushroom Cup/All-Cup Tour] [100cc/150cc/Mirror], Dolphin will give a warning:

Invalid read from 0x000000cc, PC = 0x8013926c

The hexadecimal numbers reported in the error are not always the same, but the warning does always occur.

For other cups, it doesn't happen on the first track, but it will happen if you play through and load further tracks:
150cc Flower Cup will happen when it tries to load Daisy Cruiser.
150cc Star Cup will happen when it tries to load Yoshi Circuit.
150cc Special Cup will happen when it tries to load Bowser's Castle.

I know the code is working, because the tracks that do load have the single-player differences.
Has anyone else seen this issue?

The most prominent defects in CO-OP play is the driver depends on Player 2 to do Mini-Turbo boost.

Can you make a code to fix this, so the Player 2 only use items and punches players (pressing L and R).

And because we have creator like (RALF), I just give ideas in addition to his creativity. :D

Eh I'm fine with player 2 in charge of doing the mini turbo boosts. Player 1 is already doing most of the work anyway with the driving.

I do have a request. Is it possible to make a code that adds the AI when you have more than 4 players through LAN play? For example if I have 5 humans, the other 3 will be CPUs.

Personally, I like to control the turbo myself. As there are some of my non-professional friends who don't make the turbo at the right time, Which makes me mad at them, lol.
While with this code the problem fixed. THANK YOU RALF.

I know developing some code is just not possible and it crash the game. So I suggest some workable ideas!

Nice one!
Is it possible to make code that make the music not stop when star is used or chain-chomp?
Or make track music from the right speaker, and the item (star/chain-chomp) music from the left speaker?

Or idk if that thing not possible, you make the music start randomly after using the item instead of starting it back from the beginning.
This kinda annoying (especially when you're playing Custom Tracks with custom music too).

+ Can Bowser's evil laugh and screaming fans be disabled? It's useless when playing custom tracks too.

Hello Ralf, thanks so much for all these codes, this thread is an absolutely amazing resource! Mario Kart Double Dash holds a very special place in my heart, and I’m happy to see a thread like this dedicated to tweaking it all these years later 🙂

I’m currently in the process of spec’ing out a project that I've wanted to tackle for a long time; Creation of a 8 player LAN setup for MKDD in which each player can (whether it's hardcoded, or not) can drive with the characters and kart they want. To that end, I had a question about some of the codes you've written.

I saw that in the PAL version of this thread (link below), you had posted a snippet of codes related to hardcoding of character and kart IDs for LAN mode. Do you by chance have a matching codeset for NTSC-U? If not, could I perhaps ask that you port it? I’d be happy to Paypal you for your time.

Hey Ralph, I was able to do an initial test today via Nintendon't and it seems that hardcoding of characters appears to be working.

I unfortunately did not have a LAN adapter handy, so my initial tests over Wifi were pretty choppy. I've since ordered a pair of LAN adapters. Once they arrive (ETA this weekend) i'll re-run a few tests for character hardcoding, as-well as verify your other codes work without issue (kart hardcoding, petty piranha unlock, etc).

Hello Ralph, I was able to confirm that your NTSC-U codes for hardcoding of characters & karts in LAN mode function perfectly, including the use of unlockable characters and karts.

I tried the code that make fake item box to ice fake item box!
Your edit is great! Made that look like a new item :D
But a glitch occurs when a player freezes at the same time that they fall from a height or when drowning. When Lakito comes to take the player back, the player is still frozen again and cannot use the items until the next track!
and that sounds crazy and funny but this amazing add-on just needs a little fixing and it will be perfect
* Certainly this happens also with Red/Green Ice Fireballs.

Does anyone have the equivalent code for "DynamicsInit__8KartCtrlFb" (0429FAA8 3A80000x) that's mentioned in the GCN/AR/PAL thread but for the NTSC version of the game? I can't find any reference to it here in this thread and the fullscreen netplay code only causes desync as it is at the moment.

Needs a bit fix. The music stops (as described), but it disable the player shouting when using Chain Chomp too.

+Suggest code that makes the music at the same volume (disable lower) even when players using Lightning too.

The Mario Kart: Double Dash Widescreen is great, but there some issue with it
  • The Racer positions and map appear abruptly as suppose to appear smoothly

  • The HUD for the battle mode are not adjusted to widescreen, the player number also affects V.S mode as well

  • The FMV Opening is not adjusted to 4:3 and its stretch, Maybe an add on code could adjust to 4:3
  • Lakitu appears before the opening is stretch

The No Blur Code cause the camera to clipped on objects and characters

The characters pain sound can be still be heard when get hit by a fire ball and lightning bolt even with the disable characters voice code is enable.
