wii Mini

Post by wii_HD » Tue Nov 27, 2012 11:06 pm

Anyone interested in this strange release from Nintendo.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=501579

So its exclusive to Canada - might not get released anywhere else, similar thing happened with the Sony KDL22PX300 TV with built-in PlayStation 2 sold over here.

I might bite.

EDIT - So along with the standard composite Video output the following cables have been tested with the mini.

S-Video - NOT working.

RGB Scart - working.

The S-Video cable was tested with three consoles - wii NTSC - working obviously / wii PAL - not working - rolling black white image / wii mini NTSC - not working - faint white diagonal spaced out lines.

from the pictures it doesn't look like it has SD/USB, but hopefully it does. Otherwise there's no way to soft mod it.

It mention's that the "ports" are on the rear of the console, and doesnt mention that the sd slot is missing so im hoping the sd slot got moved as well.

in an article i read people were discussing the fact that nintendo might've scratched the usb port, because the wii mini does not have any internet connectivity, so you won't need the usb/rj45 adapter....we'll see i guess
please search before you ask - a lot has been discussed already!

I don't need that at all... I'm okay with my "normal" Wii.

With skylanders being such a big hit I cant see them ditching the usb ports. If they're smart, they'll have patched all existing exploits though. I'm sure they're kickong themselves for the WiiU smashstack thing.

Why is anyone excited about this? It's a gimped version of the Wii that doesn't have backwards compatibility with the GameCube. I remember the latter not being received well on this message board.
Hardware: Wii (PAL)
Hardware configuration: System Menu 4.1E, Priiloader
Swiss boot method: Modified Wii Swiss Booter provided by Extrems
Software medium: Retail discs

another Question:

DVD is top-Loading? Like GC?
So maybe we can use this drive in our GC´s? and use WKF or Wode...

Newer DVD drive models for the Wii cannot detect gamecube discs. They removed the chip from the board for the gamecube part.

What? Yes they can! In fact a newer Wii can have it's gamecube functionality by adding the right components

O.K.

But the soldering is on the wii Board not on the Drive or?

So the Drive could be used?

Deadlyfoez is using wode to play GC games. not the Wii DVD drive. newer model DVD drives cannot read GC discs at all.

found photos of the case; one USB slot, no SD. here's to hoping that since the Wii U can have it's memory expanded/moved with a USB hard drive the Mini can too.
