Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Hey. It's posible to plug wiikey fusion directly from GC 5V? I mean it will work? Or i must use something to change voltage.
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
It needs to be 3.3/3.4v. 5v will kill the actel chip on the wiikey.

okie dokie
L200C should be good?

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
You could use a step down regulator, but its largely unnecessary. As the GC has a built in 3.4v regulator you could draw from.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Is "wiikey 3 fusion" the same thing as "wiikey fusion"? Will it work on a GC? Please take a look:

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Can a flatmii fusion be used instead of a wiikey fusion?
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
I'll let you know as soon as mine gets here.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Update to my WODE problem above.
When my order for a new WODE fell through I decided to take another look at the WODE that was giving me problems ealier and I'm glad I did. It seems that it wasn't the WODE that was faulty in the end it was a 3.3v regulator that I was using to power the WODE.
I am now using 3.3v from the drive board to power the WODE and the problem is gone. It even works with the latest 2.8 firmware
I have got another strange problem now though. Since installing the WODE all my old save games show up as corrupt even though I have tested them on another cube and I know that they are not. I can't work out why as I am using the same game dumps on my WODE cube that I used on my other XenoGC cube which loads the save games fine

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
I got my Flatmii Fusion chip in the mail the other day and tried it out. Looks like at least at the moment this chip is a no go for the GameCube. I poked around with it a bit and tried a bunch of different things to get it working but all just end up in the dreaded "error has occurred" when I load a game from the SD card. Currently the Flatmii Fusion website is apparently in the process of being revamped, so I cant even look there for updates/support, etc.
The chip works fine on my Wii, as I tested it on there first to confirm that it actually was working. It actually seems to be a very nice little modchip. Interestingly enough Luigi's Mansion NTSC gets the same exact DRE that the Wiikey Fusion gets at exactly the same point in loading the game. At first I thought it was working, then I realized I had the PAL version of the game loaded to the SD card I was using.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
I have both these modchips and both working on my wii, so was curious to see if you could get the Flatmii Fusion working with the gamecube..... hope you are sucessful. I know there is not much support for the Flatmii Fusion and have never seen any updates (on the website)
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
so i bought the Wiikey Fusion GC from emu
i had problems with the new button that simulates the wii's eject signal. felt like i had to press it exactly timed.
now, a day later, no matter how long/short i press it, nothing happens - the bootable disc that boots into the wiikey fusion menue won't show up. what CAN be wrong? maybe a cable came loose somewhere?

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
liquitt, I'd say look at the eject mechanism. It's all using one of Ashens plug and play so wiring isn't an issue

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
i'd recommend using a multimeter and go through all pins (wkf <-> main board) with that wiring diagramme and also check the switch
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
so first i thought the original lidswitch was broken because one of the pins looked weird.
"repaired" it - nope...
used another one - nope...
maybe the button for the wii eject signal is broken?
can i close the gc's lidswitch constantly with a drop of solder? well, i know i can but i mean can i do that in a wkf setup?

so yeah, the lidswitch button is definetly borked. works in 1 out of 10 times when i push the cables on the back in different directions etc.
gotta install a new one

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Hey emu_kidid, congratulations for your great job. I'm new here and have a doubt. How could I play multidisc games on SD card with the Wiikey Fusion installed on Wii???
It works perfectly, but on the disc swapping it doesn't works. I tried the swap disc trick (two SDs, one with only disc 1 of the game and the other only with disc 2 of the same game) but after SD swapping the Wii said it wasn't the disc 2 of Resident Evil 0. I tried with Resident Evil Remake and it returns the same error.
An on/off buttom on pin 23 of Wiikey Fusion is required on Wii or just on Gamecube???
Could you help me, please???
Thank you so much.
Bruno.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Yes, for the disc swap trick to work on a Wii you would need to install a switch between pin 23 on the Wiikey Fusion and Wii motherboard to toggle the gamecubes lidswitch signal. I can confirm that the disc swap does work on a Wii if you do this.
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Ok Ashen. So, in which point on Wii motherboard the on/off switch must be solded???
Thank you for your help.
Thank you for your help.
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
There is really no good way to do it ON the motherboard itself. You'll need to modify the ribbon cable with pin 23 going to a switch then back to pin 23 to the MB.
Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Ashen, I think the best way is to cut the contact between pin 23 on Wiikey Fusion board (green mark on image) and to solder an on/off switch between the ribbon cable and the Wiikey Fusion chipset. Of course the on/off switch will be on outside of the Wii.
Follow the scheme:

Will it really works???

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Ashen, I have another doubt. The switch on pin 23 of Wiikey Fusion on the "on" position means the Gamecube's lid is opened or closed???
If the "on" position means the lid is opened, I guess is not possible to use a tact switch. So could I really use a tact switch on pin 23 of Wiikey Fusion???
Thx.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
That looks like a fine way to do it. I'd scratch the trace of that line though, trying to wire right to those pins will end badly. Break the trace in the middle and scrape the blue stuff off and wire to that.
You can use a momentary switch but it needs to be normally closed, just like the pin 29 connection. The original GC lidswitch also works fine.

Re: Wii DVD/Wiikey Fusion/WODE + GC Portable Discussion
Could someone confirm if the Wiikey Fusion instalation is compatible with GC DOL-101 (USA)??? Is there any difference on the DOL-001 scheme???
