Ashens N64p

Post by Ashen » Mon Oct 08, 2012 1:07 am

I realize its not a GC mod, so might be better in some other location in the forums. But I thought it fit here under hardware/modding best.

I've been working on this on and off for about 6 months or so now in between other stuff and its finally about 98% finished. :D I say 98% because I'm using a cheap converter board for the pot based analog atm, and am waiting for a atmel programmer to arrive in the mail so I can swap the cheap crappy converter out for a good one.

The main body of the unit is even thinner than the Fusion3 (25mm!). It gets almost exactly 3hours playtime from a full charge and has a built in mempak.

For now here's some teaser pics (I'll post a proper video/pics once the analog thing is sorted out):

If anyone is interested, This unit will be up for sale once the analog thing is sorted out. I'm looking for about $700 for this one, I'll even toss in the 64 Drive I have here. I'd prefer to keep shipping to within the states, unless you're prepared to eat some crazy registered/hazmat'd shipping costs for international buyers. If anyone's interested just PM me, first come first served.

Excellent - it has the true Ashen look to it, i.e. every part of it looks like it's meticulously been looked over a few dozen times :)

N64 would look quite crisp on a screen that size - I don't think you'll have any issues getting this one sold quite fast :D

great job..for some reason i thought you were gonna put the 64drive in the main housing...
and 3 hours is great if your using the same batt setup as the others..

on a side note, i have some designs posted for a DIY atmel programmer on the xeno clone wiki if you dont wanna wait...and if you have serial or parallel available...

Thanks guys! :D

Yea, the original plan was to build in the 64 Drive. Unfortunately, the 64 Drive I have is a prototype (rev1) and while it works just like any other 64 Drive does, the board(s) inside are quite thick. Considering all that I just made it with an external cart slot.

I'm actually using 1 less cell than I do with my GC's. The built in pack here is a 11.1v 2600mAh pack. So 3 hours really is great.

I'll have to look at that programmer tut, all the pc's I have with a paralel port are in peices though. :/
