About the Qoob Pro
Hi there.
I'm new to console modding and modchips overall, and I need some help:
I had this GameCube that came with the Qoob Pro chip installed, it was perfect, but the lens were dead. I used it with Swiss so I didn't need the lens at first, but when I decided to buy some original games I thought it was time to switch the Lens. I bought a new Optical unit and installed it successfully, and assembled the GC back up. It was running ok, except for a Metroid Prime disk which wasn't booting. I opened it up again to see what the problem was, thinking it could be the POT or something.
But when I did, the red wire of the Qoob Pro that was soldered to the 5v point on the motherboard came loose. Now the GC won't turn on anymore, of course I should try and solder it back, but I have 0 experience with soldering and I'm looking into alternatives.
The fans are spinning when I press the power switch, but it won't really turn on at all. So my question is: The red wire of the Qoob can prevent the GC from turning on if it's not properly installed and soldered? Or did I fuck something else I don't know? I thought it would just turn on and ignore the chip but it's not.

Re: About the Qoob Pro
Red wire is your problem, solder it back on and it should be fine. There are some pretty big voltage spots you can solder to. Also, I forget, but it might be 5v or it might be 3.3v, have a look at the diagrams to see or perhaps someone else with a bit more time can reply

Thanks for clarifying it up, I've been looking at schematics and I know where to solder it, I'll look after it this week. Thanks for the help!

Thank you for all your help!
I have soldered the wire back to its place with success, but the GC still didn't turn on. For some reason I believe the PCB is dead or something, so I bought a working PCB with everything on it so I can just slip my Drive unit on top of it - I will lose the Qoob modding but I'll see if I can solder it back or solder a Xeno, or better yet just buy a SD media launcher.
I was wondering now, the Potentiometer is probably messed up a little, which would be the ideal value for original, commercial games? Mine is a DOL 001 model, I suspect 200 Ohms would be fine, but I might be wrong and I don't want to damage the lens. I've searched around the net to no results, and I suppose I should ask the pros. Thanks in advance!
