GCP WKF/Worklog
Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
i wasn't talking about money. i was referring to the fact that there is a strictly limited amount of these adapters availible, but good to know that you're fine with wasting them

please search before you ask - a lot has been discussed already!

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
pretty sure its not wasted, if it still works?
Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
Ok, well i hooked the mega drive up last night with wkf and wired all my power and screen and video, all came on good, i kept getting the restart gamecube screen, but sometimes, i didnt get that screen and gamecube seemed to work normal, went to gameplay, and tried hitting my switch for the wkf to boot, it never did, dont quite know what might be wrong???

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
try soldering one of the 5v points from the mobo to the MEGAdrive, might work better if voltage is supplied to the WKF
http://www.gc-forever.com/wiki/images/0 ... ctor-3.jpg
also it could be camera angle, but the ffc cable does not look to be seated in all the way on the MEGAdrive

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
Got power to wkf now! Two problems. One I have to hold lid switch down for it to go past the opening gc splash screen then when I go to gameplay and press pin 29 switch. Blue led comes on wkf. And stays like that solid blue light. Nothing changes on gameplay screen! Ugh! Also if I release the lid switch gc gives me error to restart and check manual

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
if you have to hold the lid switch then i dont think you are using normally closed switches...
check to make sure the switches you have are the normally closed type...
dont assume you have normally closed switches....
make 100% certain or you will be pulling your hair out for days bacause of an incorrect switch issue...
one more time: check your switches..use a multimeter

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
Ok. Well my switch looks exactly like the one in the photo. Has normally closed on left. Normally open I'm middle. Common on right.

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
"looks exactly like" does not mean it is correct, you need to check the switch functionality to confirm its the right type...Bardicus wrote:Ok. Well my switch looks exactly like the one in the photo. Has normally closed on left. Normally open I'm middle. Common on right.
think of it like putting gas in your car...the hose for diesel and unleaded might look the same but the type is different...

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
what you are looking for is a normally closed switch. meaning when connected to common and NC, there will be continuous contact between those two points until the switch is pressed and contact will break between the two points...
take your problems with the lid switch you posted...
you posted you need to keep this switch pressed...this is incorrect functionality. you should not need to press that switch unless you want the GC to think the lid is open. instead you have to press it so the GC thinks the lid is closed...
same with the WKF, you have a constant blue led because its not seeing gnd properly...
check you switches...or remove the switches...
twist the ends together for the lid wires so it has constant connection....
for wkf, boot the GC with the two leads connected, break connection and reconnect within one second....you should then see the iso linux image loaded....

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
glad you got that working....
also glad to hear the MEGAdrive survived a transplant after the first mobo crapped out on you....getting the optional 2oz copper pcbs really helps the board survive something like this...

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
Dude I will say that my soldering skills are prestige now. But that mega drive took a beating and works everytime and is a beauty.
The only thing I want is to get Swiss on it and be able to play emulators like snes. But I'm having a terrible time trying to get Swiss loaded

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
Damn I've been researching Ashens controller cutting and wiring for ever now and still can't get my head around cutting and wiring it.
Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
What up, So I know I havent really presented a great worklog so far, so here goes.
Gamecube Mobo Dol - 101 Rev C
Dalian 5" Screen
Zn-40 / Zn-45 Case not sure which one will be used yet
Wiikey Fusion Install - Via Mega Drive (Megaloman*)
Using stock 12v Regulator from board
Well To start, all my credit goes to megaloman, he has been about 100% of my support and I couldnt have gotten this far without this guy! He is absolutely the man, and like i said couldn't have done any of this without him! Thanks brotaha

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
Yeah man its hard! lol been procrastinating! But getting there! Thanks emu kidd for joining my god awful fun! Mega has been a huge help with me, and cant thank him enough! And heres the kicker about the megadrive!!!
My partner in this (were both working on one, learning together) decided that after i installed his megadrive for his portable, that he didnt want to do a portable anymore and just wanted a regular gamecube with the wkf.
He tells me, "can you take that megadrive out of this and put it in this mobo that has all the connectors) as he de soldered all of them for his portable!!! UGHHHH
So, I took the megadrive out of his also and transplanted it into another mobo! Working Wkf after two double installs lol!!!
Here is a question for you guys! Just received my sd gecko, and dont know where to start with it,
My plan is to use it for homebrew and emulators, but dont know how to read it, or get swiss to work, or anything like that! Im reading everything i can and cant figure it out! Please Help!!!

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
for now, upload swiss(pal).iso into wbfs sd card...
yes i said PAL...
then access swiss thru WKF....once the system reboots you need to remove the WBFS sd card from the WKF slot and insert a FAT32 sd card into the slot...you need to do this quickly before swiss appears on screen....
then the contents will be displayed on your FAT32 card....
after you see the contents, you need exit the SD card device and then you can remove the FAT32 sd card from WKF sd slot and insert it into SDGecko....navigate thru swiss to the SD card device and select the appropriate SD slot to see the contents in SD Gecko.....
yes, this instructions sound crazy, but this is what you need to do...
eventually you may choose to install swiss on WKF flash which will simplify everything....
re-read the instructions above and try it a few times until you get it right....

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
you need to swap the SD cards after the GC resets back to the bootup logo, and before swiss is actually loaded...
you have about a 4 or 5 second window to swap it correctly...

Re: GCP WKF/Worklog
if nothing is on the card then there will be no contents to display...
if do you need anything on the card for it to work properly? no...
just keep trying til you figure out the process...
