Unknown Solder Glob On CB Laser PCB?

Post by thefunmachine » Thu Jul 30, 2015 8:17 pm

So I bought a GameCube last year off eBay. I planed on modding it but never got around to it. Well I finally order and received my XenoGC clone chip from China. Upon opening it and exposing the lasers PCB board. I notice this glob of solder. So I checked out a few pics on the net of the board and none of them have this glob. It looks like someone solder c310 to STBY. Anyway the little glob bothers me. The cube seems to run fine with it there. My questions are is it safe for me to remove/fix it? And why do you think it's there in the first place? Oh yeah this is a GC model DOL-001 if that matters.

This is Nintendo's quick fix for the 0306 DVD drive board. It's fine just leave it there the board will most likely stop working without this blob of solder. If you look around you will find the topic where this was covered. You can go ahead with installing the XenoGC you shouldn't have any problems with the modchip working right just don't remove the blob
