Building a Micro SD Gecko
Building a Micro SD Gecko
So, I found a tutorial on how to make an SD gecko from an old memory card and decided to try it out. Instead of using an SD slot and a full size SD card, I decide to try directly soldering a micro SD adapter and using interchangeable micro SD cards with it. The only problem is, when I plug the completed device into the Gamecube and start up Swiss, selecting the SD Gecko option, it gets stuck on a screen that says "Reading SD in slot A" and doesn't go away until I pull the card out. Did I perhaps wire something wrong? Or do I need to wire it differently when using a micro SD instead of a full size one?

Micro SD wiring is exactly the same as normal SD. Perhaps you wired something wrong. You could upload a photo so someone can take a look at it
Re: Building a Micro SD Gecko
I'll probably do that. I'm not sure why it's not working... I even re-did all the wiring with thinner wires so that I could solder it properly.

If anyone can see any problems, please let me know!
I made sure none of the wires are touching or anything. They're all connected properly as far as I can tell.
Edit: Added some extra solder to the pads that are lower down, so they should all make contact now. Still have yet to test.
Edit 2: It works now! For those of you who want to make your own micro SD adapter, soldering directly to the SD adapter works fine. Make sure that when you solder to the memory card pins, you add solder to any points that don't have wires soldered so that they all make contact. You can also use SDHC cards with Swiss (I used an 8GB SDHC)
