Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
Yes, max limit was 1 per person this time.
Not that many ordered two during the first sale though. We plan to always keep these available, but first production rounds always go slower, just how it is.

Indeed, things should go smoother and smoother each round. For the first round, the fab actually forgot to solder on a component. Citrus had to solder this on by hand for ~500 boards. If he had ordered more boards, the manual labor would have been even more intense.

I am trying my best to remain patient until meneerbeer starts selling these. I hope the regulars of this section will be able to call dibs on them, i know i want to!
Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
Hello meneerbeer,
any future plans to adapt it to work on wii? shouldn't be too hard, I hope. I am pretty sure that citrus3000psi can adapt it to be easy to install aswell

Not to be judgemental, but is there any purpose to do so? The wii can already do everything with a simple softmod and GX Loader

To be fair I have WODE and it is not the same since those loaders present a good amount of frame skipsDark_Knight wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 10:40 pmNot to be judgemental, but is there any purpose to do so? The wii can already do everything with a simple softmod and GX Loader
Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
So I guess the notification system that website uses is just broken beyond use? Missed not one but two rounds because it didn't send the notification to any of the multiple emails I set up for alerts to make sure I wouldn't miss it.

Same here, but it looks like we will have another run on January 1st. So keep an eye in Dan's twitter https://twitter.com/citrus3000psi
Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
Better to follow Dan of Twitter. If not for that I would've missed it again.

Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
The magento notification system is ran by a cron job and runs at 8 AM EST everyday. It works but not for a product that goes out of stock in a few mins. I will start a pre-order soon. @meneerbeer plans on starting a webstore, so I will wait until that is ready before doing this.
Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
Thanks citrus3000psi & meneerbeer ! I've just finished the install and you did an amazing work !
Out of curiosity, what are the dipswitch and button for ? The button I guess it's for future use (disc swap maybe ?) but I also saw the dip switch on other ODE (ie WASP Fusion) with no idea of its purpose...
Thanks again, I will do installs for all my friends interested in it

Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
The button will indeed be for disc swap. But eventually Swiss will hopefully be able to automatically swap the discs.
One DIP switch can be used to limit the speed of the ODE. We suspected that some games may run into issues due to too fast reads. However, at this point we have not heard any complaints that we could attribute to this so far. The remaining DIP switches are there for potential future use.

Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
This is the superior product. Haven't had a game yet not load and function properly! Tremendous.
Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
Nice work meneerbeer, fun to see a complete product available for the masses. I'm considering making my own contraption API compatible with yours, I'm too lazy to add Swiss support myself
I have some hardware problems on my board as well as too many projects and too little time to put on something I'll only use myself, but it would be nice to finish at least

Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
Just wanted to post a shoutout to meneerbeer. The cube was the first system I ever bought for myself. My best friend got one Christmas 2001. I came over to hang out and could not believe the jump in quality. Even the boot up screen was something magical. We played melee all winter break, almost every day. I had to get one for myself. I shoveled snow, mowed lawns, and saved every penny I could get my hands on until finally I had the money the following summer. I remember begging my parents to go to best buy, and finally they relented and drove me there. I remember clutching that best buy bag on the drive home and staring at the box, not wanting to look away in case it should disappear.
I spent several summers in front of my cube, even brought it to college. Eventually the disc drive wore out, and it sat collecting dust. I thought about throwing it away, I had a Wii now after all, but couldn't bare to part with it. I kept it with me in storage.
Finally this year I snagged a GC Loader and installed it in my old friend and booted him back up again for the first time in a decade, and it brought me back instantly. We have some catching up to do.
Thank you for putting in the time to make such a great device meneerbeer. Maybe i'm an overly sentimental sort, but I'm sure that there are others who feel like me who appreciate having their old consoles back, and steeling for the for the future.

Not to put a damper on your enthusiasm but there have been other ways to boot things on a GameCube without a working disc drive for a whilesilvernutter wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 3:54 pmEventually the disc drive wore out, and it sat collecting dust. Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
ok, now you have my attention. I have a gamecube that for some reason, has gone through 3 lenses. Until meneerbeer starts selling the device, is there a way to play my games? Have been using Swiss from a boot disc until now
Re: DVD Drive Emulator Question
Don't wanna spam this thread but your best bet is Hyperboot which can boot Swiss (or any other dol file) off an SD card either via Memcard slot or SD2SP2. You can also look for old modchips like Qoob SX or ViperGC. Both can boot Swiss from an SD card.Dark_Knight wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 6:10 pmok, now you have my attention.
