Could I order one as well? I'm stateside though, not sure if that makes a difference.
Also, I personally would prefer a plug, rather than to solder on my own connection. But I can do it if that is the only option.
Thank you, and amazing work!

Great work.
I also would like to sign up to buy one, if it's not too late.

Beautiful work. I have to say even though I'm late to the party, looking over how much progress you made from proof of concept bread boarding to getting a chip fabbed is pretty cool.
Looking forward to buying one of my own.

i didnt bother to clean up and trim away the edges in this pic...
its late and i dont feel like running the dremel to clean it up...
but here is the fiber optic only board...

i kinda knew how the board was gonna look....after all its my design...
but seeing the board as circuit traces on a pcb program is really not the same as seeing the assembled outcome...
i must admit, im pretty shocked at the final outcome...

Nice work megalomaniac

all that time and effort has paid off in the end
I'm beginning to wish I had put my name down for one now after seeing that.

yea i meant shocked in a positive way
here are the video components....
as shown, there is a gap between the board and both VGA and YPBPR connector...
this gap is to allow proper fitment along the inner wall on the back panel of the case
since the two components are sandwiched between the PCB, this makes it really tricky to solder...
it takes a while to properly align each one, then solder into position....
not to mention i need to precision modify (cut off) each fiber optic and component connector to remove some excess plastic screw hole mounting stuff...
why did i design it like this?? DAMN!! i should have taken the easy way out...
then again...easy wouldnt have looked like an almost natural fit to the back panel design...
i cant wait to see some of the finished cubes with these installed....
i wont be able to finish mine for a while
dont mind my dirty cube

Would you consider selling a system with this mod soldered on? I'd totally buy one! I could even send my cube in if you don't have an extra. I saw earlier in the thread that you purchased a few, and they all worked, but not sure if those are still around. Let me know what you think, or if it's even worth the trouble.

I could consider some kind of installation option or ready to go complete install.
I'll think it over and see what comes about....

just to be clear:
i wont be sending a pm about this because first you would have to make it on the list once the boards are up for sale...
i dont want any expectations/hopes built up...as ive said since the beginning, i want to keep this fair and first come first serve....(as was the case for those who made the initial list....and have been waiting ever since...hehe sorry first list'ers)
now here a few quick pics to show board connectivity
...as i previously stated...at least i think i may have stated...i reworked the design a bit as far as connectivity was concerned...
i was a little hesitant about the tower of pins (see this pic
http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/235/img0551jt.jpg)
it was an idea which could have worked if:
1. i could find about 19mm length pins in a .05mm sizing
or
2. individually resurface each pin with my dremel (bad idea)
then
3. hope any components under the tower of pins never ever ever ever ever need to be accessed as it would mostly be a one shot forever install
i really didnt like this idea after i tried it out....
so i sat on the project to think it over some more...
then i got busy moving..
then i started on the other projects...
as i was working on the dvd boards the idea hit me to use the same connectivity method as a final solution...
...this also seems to make the best sense as far as connectivity choices go...
enjoy..its been a long project
photos posted to show basic connectivity only...
yea i know i need to finish up my back panel to add filler and paint
oh, btw, there is one more surprise left to be revealed about this board...
....to be continued
