Gamecube Controller Option?

Just wondering, has anyone developed an adapter that allows the GCN controller to be used as a classic controller (by plugging into a Wiimote) or direct interfacing with the console (like the Wii U controller pro)? I'll be greatly disappointed to not have that perfection as an option for the upcoming Super Smash Bros.
If not, is a GCN to WiiRemote that is more practical than this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... RE_s_X0Cac in existence yet?
It seems that the connection is a little bit more complex than just touching the pins to each other...
