Just wanted to share this idea, maybe someone will try it faster than me.
As Wavebird gamepad are pretty valuable I thought that it would be cheaper to buy PS/PS2 gamepads adapter for gamecube and buy cheap wireless PS2 gamepad - guess A4Tech got some gamepads like that.
I thought about it some time ago and I calculated all the costs with shippings around 60zł (about 18,50 USD).
I think it should be 100% compatible with the cube, maybe someone already tried it?

Dunno, never used PS/PS2 gamepad with the cube but I guess as the adapter is available to purchase PS/PS2 pads must be able to do the job.

There are also some Third-Party GC wireless pads. I own one and it's better than I expected, power is by 3x AAA batteries. The point that's better than in the wavebird is, that it has rumble feature!
I don't know what I payd for it, but I don't think that it was more than 20 euros. It has no label, don't know the manufactor. It looks like this one here:

I think the only wireless controller still available is the Shockwave by Kuma/Komodo.

The only other wireless controller I've tried was made by GAME, which was crap. Clunky and non-responsive. I say buy the real thing
