I recently picked up a DVD recorder, and tried to record some games, and the only one giving me problems is Pikmin. It appears to run in 60p interlaced to 60i, until you open the map, then all game play after changes to 30p interlaced to 60i. But, if you open the map again, it goes from 30p/60i to 60p/60i. What's the point of this? I made a video.
I open the map for the first time around 4:00, and the second time around 7:40.

It's just a thing with 30 FPS games where a delay will push the next frames on to the next field.
