Hi guys, i wanted to make a new thread for another question. Sorry of that haha. I just bought an Japanese Orange Gamecube from Ebay a week ago.

I was wondering if i could just install a XenoGC Chip to make it read all regions, Or are there any other (better) solutions?
Greetings

The Xeno is what you want if it's just that.

I believe it's perfect compatibility, never heard of Gamecube US or PAL games with issues on Japanese consoles.
Except that US Star Fox Adventures will default to Japanese text.
XenoGC is fairly basic. No built in support for stuff like SD cards or forced 480p, you have to use homebrew.

use a dedicated memory card for USA titles and different memory card for JAP titles...

Yeah the normal advice to get started. Explaining how it works gets a bit complex.
1. Gamecube was designed to format memory cards based on console region. Not the game disc.
2. Devices like modchips or freeloader do not change console region.
For example if you successfully save a JAP game when run by a USA system, the file is located on a USA memory card.
So only USA systems can read it.

PAL/NTSC-U saves can share a card, JAP cannot.

True. In that context PAL/NTSC-U or JAP refers to the console who formatted the card.
While modchip and freeloader users aren't technically forced to use different cards, still a good idea for safety.
I don't recall off-hand which games conflict with each other.
But anyway I'm derailing the topic.

If you install a region switch in the Cube you effectively switch between USA and Jap regions with no modchip required, for both games and IPL.

I just got the console in. I did not expect a japanese OS. What was i thinking though. Thanks for the new ansers. I have a SD Media Launcher. If i put a XenoGC in to the GC will i be able to read the SD Media Launcher disk, since its PAL? Also, i have a bunch of memory cards so i'll use a dedicated one for my Japanese Gamecube.

Permanent is not a good idea. A few games like Radirgy can't save progress in English, others get various text corruption.

Im not really planning on playing any japanese games on it, maybe Naruto but thats about it. Ill mainly be playing the standard titles like Mario Kart, Sunshine, Sonic Heroes, Super Smash Brothers etc.

I don't have an unmodified import system to try anything. But they were released in Japanese, if it comes to that.
