Latest Datel Action Replay on Japanese Gamecube?

Is the latest GC Action replay disc region free? Does anyone know if it has a Freeloader ability as well?

I don't know which is the latest version, but one that displays the year 2003 and says Made in England will run on a Japanese Gamecube and has Freeloader in the menu. I tested it with Baten Kaitos Origins NTSC version and it seemed to work fine. I was using a component video cable and I don't know if that makes a diference. I then tested it with Ocarina of Time PAL version and got a black screen which wasn't a surprise. Then I tried with Doshin the Giant PAL version just to make sure, and it worked which was a surprise (either witchcraft or the component video or maybe it doesn't use fonts from the ROM).

By the way, you don't need to insert the "Action Replay Hardware" in Slot B, you can use a normal Memory Card. I think there was something special about the early versions of AR Replay like you could add new codes or something, but the old discs may be rotting by now and Datel made sure you can't back them up.

Later versions do not support code entry. Even if region free, it'd be useless to the average user in Japan without pre-loaded Japanese codes.

A component cable fixes 50hz mode. NTSC consoles are incompatible with PAL color encoding.
