N64 Mod - trouble sourcing parts
I'm prepping a N64 to send to Megalomaniac to be N64 HDMI modded, and I'm trying to make it as future proof as possible.
Currently I'm using a RGB moded N64 I got of Emukidd that I swapped the PIF-NUS lockout chip and crystals of to make it PAL.
For this console I would like to breakout the contacts of the lockout chip with SMD headers to a daughter board for region switching.
I'm currently having trouble ordering the right sized headers. I think I have the correct pitch, but I honestly have never been formally trained in electronics and am just making my best guess.
Would the PA-SOF-D560-32/1 on this page be sufficent for the job? I understand I only need 28 pins not 32, but I am not sure if the PA-SOF-D470-28/1 is the correct width for the job. I can always cut off any uneeded pins I don't need.
Better yet would anyone be able to suggest a decent alternative?

Re: N64 Mod - trouble sourcing parts
So long ago, I vaguely remembered it was from APE for some reason
Those pins look right by the way. I think there's a SuperCIC equivalent close by in development from what I've heard so you may want to wait it out if you're patient.

Did you swap both crystals or just the X1? Did you have to rewire anything else?Diminuendo wrote:

It did say "Ape was here" when I opened it up.emu_kidid wrote:So long ago, I vaguely remembered it was from APE for some reason
Would you have a link to the information about the N64 SuperCIC? that sounds awesome.

I swapped out both, and make sure you replace the cartridge slot plate.MR.JOE wrote:Did you swap both crystals or just the X1? Did you have to rewire anything else?Diminuendo wrote:

Interesting. What about the MX8330? Did you leave it untouched?
