Swiss or an Apploader on Original Wiikey?

I think I've been up too late reading over the forums. I'm really enjoying swiss both on my wiis and a gamecube with a xenogc.

So, this is just a shot in the dark.

Would it be possible to flash an original wiikey with something that would auto-boot Swiss from an sdgecko? I've read in the hardware section that somebody flashed a wiikey with the xenogc firmware and then installed it in a gamecube.

I ask because I've got a launch day wii with an original wiikey installed in it. Its not needed anymore and it seems like the perfect candidate to rip out and put in a cube with maybe some more functionality than just the xenogc. Plus, for anyone else who wants to try it original wiikeys are like what, $10 now?

If I'm crazy and just misunderstanding what could be done then tell me and my brain can stop fixating on the idea.

this might be possible, but why go to all that effort when you could just put Swiss on a DVD-R?

It requires someone write a <4kb in size SDGecko init+read+FAT table parser+DOL Loader and then you'd still need an original disc + hold down start on disc boot..

Happily, yes. Before shipping costs anyway.

I didn't realize you'd still need a disk in there, so that negates any benefit. Thanks for the answers.
