Swiss 0.3 and Qoob pro problem

Has anyone been able to get Swiss 0.3 to work with a Qoob pro modchip? Here's what I did:-
1. Flash Swiss 0.3-r174 dol (swiss-compressed.dol) to the Qoob's internal memory.
2. Disconnect USB cable, insert SDGecko with SD card.
3 . Power up Gamecube, select swiss-compressed from applications menu.
3. Swiss starts and says "reading SD Card"
4. Exits briefly to the Swiss menu before displaying this:-
I left a bug report on the Swiss Google code page too but I don't know if anyone ever reads that. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

I don't have my qoob pro installed anymore to test but I'm pretty sure before I removed it I was using qoob BIOS v1.3c with swiss 0.3-r174 swiss-compressed.dol flashed to the internal memory and it worked fine.

That's what I'm using, v1.3c (hw0 sw1.3c) and I get the crash every time

What could be going wrong?

Unfortunately I never had the problem so I have no idea but you could try booting it without the gecko in at all and see if it still does it, if not I would guess your gecko or sd card are probably the problem, in that case you might want to try formatting the sd card and/or a different sd card or try another gecko if possible, I'm sure someone with more knowledge of swiss can probably give you a better answer though.

If I boot without the Gecko it crashes instantly, if I have the Gecko in it goes to the Swiss menu for a second or two then crashes, exact same crash / same numbers.

use swiss-r94 on qoob flash
once it starts up, then load swiss-r174 from sd gecko

That wouldn't work because it crashes almost instantly... oh wait sorry yeah I see what you mean that would be worth a try.
I've discovered something significant. If I disconnect the LAN cable from my Gamecube LAN adapter, the crash does not occur. Could it be an IP address conflict or something?

that's interesting, I'll have to try it.

So, a little further along without the BBA adaptor connected but still having issues. I've loaded two games onto my SD card in my SD Gecko, both were on the compatibility list. The games are Fire Emblem - Path of Radiance (USA) and Bust-A-Move 3000 (USA). I've also tried the game Chibi Robo (USA) directly from an original Gamecube disc. None of the three games will start, they all hang in exactly the same place, like this:-
Have I just managed to pick three games that don't work with Swiss 0.3 or is something else a miss?

unplug your USBGecko and/or turn off debug from USBGecko, or run something to pump data out over the interface.

Hi emu_kidid thanks for taking the time to reply. I don't have a USB Gecko, isn't that for Wii not Gamecube? I have a SD Gecko. "Enable USB Gecko Debug via Slot B" is set to "No" in the options menu. "Run something to pump data out over the interface" sorry I'm not sure what you mean by this, I'd be happy to collect any debugging information if you tell me how.

hm, I figured you might've had a USBGecko as that can hold up booting a game at that spot. Are you enabling any cheats? if so, please disable them. Is the game severely fragmented on your SD card? (it should tell you how many it's in, if any when it shows the game banner).

Not enabling any cheats no. I got a warning that the file was fragmented before but I reformatted the card and that went away.
I also tried booting Swiss 0.2 from 0.3 and that just caused a crash
I have a reasonably large collection of Gamecube disks, is there a disk based game that definitely should start with Swiss that I can test? I am beginning to wonder if my Gamecube or Qoob or perhaps the SD is actually faulty.

Here recently I have been messing with my phone a bit trying to boot linux, a couple times I had some bad files and didn't even realize it. You could try and download the versions of swiss you are using and start again.

It's worth a try, but when you download a zip file that includes crc checking so any transmission errors should have shown up then.

Disc based games should work fine, give one a try.

hm.. when Swiss boots up, do you get a message about "disc drive initializing"? Try boot the GameCube up holding down Y and then going to the Applications->Swiss.
Also, the only other thing I can think of is that in my Qoob setup, I'm not using the lid switch bypass wire, just using the original (I believe it can be toggled in the settings if I remember correctly?).

Wow thanks emu_kidid, holding down the Y button and starting Swiss that way has cured my problems. Before I was holding down B to go to the menu after the Qoob had initialized and read the disk I believe. I got Chibi Robo and Donkey Konga to start just fine from original retail disc and Fire Emblem to load from the SD card with no issues (well there was audio stuttering on Fire Emblem's intro but I understand that's normal for that game from SD card).
This is fantastic, I much prefer playing my Gamecube games on a real cube, I was lucky enough to pick up a component cable before they became expensive and the picture quality is much better. Thank you so much for continuing to develop this software!

I've never tried to hold "Y" during boot sequence.
I knew bout "A" and "B" only.
It reminds me ; once my cube will be set up with all the gc-forever stuff, i will test ripping games with cleanrip and compare with Qoob ripping method.

BuckoA51, can you tell me how your Qoob lid switch is wired up? and perhaps a picture of your Qoob settings page?

Picture of my Qoob settings page is no problem:-
However the chip was fitted for my by a professional fitter. I will see if I have the screwdrivers to open the console and get back to you as it is pretty late here now. I can tell you I was pretty surprised when I got it back because the disc spins right up even when the lid is open.
