ViperGC programmer goes where?

The original ViperGC chip came with a parallel port programmer. Where would you mount the programmer? The ViperGC Extreme's USB programmer fits into the BBA port on the bottom, but the older programmer doesn't fit anywhere. I found a replacement case with a cut out on the back for a parallel port. Is that the only (best) way to enclose the programmer into the unit? Can anyone help me with this?

If you want to fit it in the Cube, it is the easiest way with the replacement case.
Otherwise you can cut the original case...
But seriously: Why do you need this programmer at all? It is IMO only needed for flashing the BIOS, something you wont need every day.

So back in the day when the Viper first came out, people just cut a hole in the original shell (or didn't permanently mount the programmer at all). Thanks for the info.
I know I don't really need it. I like the replacement case, thought I would make full use of it.
Thanks!

you wouldn't want to have the programmer connected to the gamecube at all times, its pointless. i used mine only once to flash the chip with viper. since then i've been using dvds to update

Are you able to put stuff like GCOS in the flash memory of the Viper using a DVD? My USB programmer for the viper doesn't work too well unless I hold it at an angle in the bba port. It's like it's a bit too thin and doesn't make good contact.

i don't think so. try adding a bit of solder to the connector-pads so it's a tight fit

When you can put cobra 2.1 on a vipergc non-extreme, you should be able to put gcos on there, too.
