Re: VBA GX unofficial
It's slow because the backing store (SDGecko) holding the loaded ROM file needs to block the CPU to get data out and into a memory cache for the rest of the emulator to read. If we had a spare 32MB to fully load the ROM files into I'm sure it'd be a lot faster. (If it's not already using ARAM + SDG...

Isn't the retroarch people working on a gPSP port?
If that thing runs at 100% speed on the PS2, I guess it should work fine on the GC too...

Ah, so it is impossible with a simple 'straight through' memory card to SD adapter...
We're gonna need an SD Gecko v2.

SD Gecko and DMA
Recently someone made another thread about some game not running properly through SD Gecko, and grumpy hacktivist/homebrew developer and celebrity tueidj made another sarcastic post: Build your own combination USB/SD gecko that doesn't suck, you know you want to. Soon, good guy emu_kidid replied I k...

That looks awesome but it doesn't say it can launch applications from the SD Gecko...megalomaniac wrote:Maybe this will work for your needs???

Re: Hiya!
Looking at his pic, I see that the 'ripped' pad looks thicker than the others. So that IC is lower than the rest... it would need something besides the paste to fill the gap.
Re: Hiya!
I always wondered... aren't those things way too thick to conduct heat properly? Even that super thin thermal pad that comes in intel heatsinks isn't as good as thermal paste... let alone those obscene things inside the GC. I though of replacing them with thermal paste but I don't know if the screws...

Seriously... do you really care about that Samurai RPG game? I think it should be called "Loading Screen RPG" instead.

Re: Qoob Chip
I just noticed that the Qoob SX has 1Mb of memory (131 072 bytes) for applications, so the standard GCOS for Qoob won't fit... Unless it can become as small as the Viper GC Bios version.
Re: Qoob Chip
It would be interesting if there was a way to flash GCOS into the Qoob SX, but the GCB has to be included somehow in the elf updater...

Re: Gamecube Digital AV to direct HDMI / VGA mod...
Exactly. The thing hasn't happened yet, but you know when it's going to happen BASED ON A VISUAL CUE. Your reaction is to press the button at the precise moment you SEE that thing will occur. A simple example would be the player having to press a button in a certain rhythm, according to a blinking s...

Your post about input lag has an error, "If you consistently play on a set with 10 millisecond lag, you will start inputting things 10 milliseconds earlier." How can you start reacting to things you haven't seen yet? It's more like a desynchronization. You get accostumed to a certain dela...

What about as adapter like this?
If this works and the DMA thing gets sorted out nicely, the IDE-EXI will obsolete the SD Gecko... and this adapter will be the best thing ever.

Re: Gamecube Running on the WiiU
Why? Is the compatibilty even worse? It's a pity, because with deflicker off, the image looks quite better even in composite mode on an HDTV . Fixed, cause, you know, not having the flicker filter on an SDTV can be flat-out headache-inducing. :P exactly! It's gonna really suck if it breaks the game...

Re: Gamecube Running on the WiiU
It would be nice to enable this thing on Swiss over composite as well. I've been tinkering with a 480p30/576p25 patch intended for capture devices, but the compatibility isn't too great. I'll never allow disabling deflicker on 480i60/576i50. Why? Is the compatibilty even worse? It's a pity, because...

Re: Gamecube Running on the WiiU
tueidj, I've run into an interesting situation, and I know you don't really take requests for Devolution features, but according to some research such functionality is already implemented in other homebrew tools... A couple weeks ago, my Trinitron SDTV that I've been using finally bit the dust, and...
