sd-boot 1.0

Post by oldirtydufty » Sun Oct 03, 2010 11:51 pm

Hi there! Just wanted to know if there will be a compatiblity progress in the new sd-boot.
And will there be a beta-version released or only the final?

Thanx! Regards,

The new version will have increased compatibility as well as a compatibility list compiled by me which will cover hopefully all of the problematic games. There'll be a version released, but it doesn't mean it will be final.

Thank you very much for your fast response. And especially for your hard work. Without you, the Gamecube-Scene would be dead.
I know you get this a lot but curious, how I am, I have to ask you, if we will see the next Version this year. And will it still be possible to use sd-boot with the Gamecube+Action Replay/SD media launcher? As far as I know, you released two final Versions of sd-boot 0.4. One was working on Gamecube with the sd media launcher sd card adapter and the other worked only with a SD Card Gecko. At least it did not work with my SDML Adapter. Probably only for Wii.

That's really strange, but they should both work exactly the same since they're just hardware redirecting the SD card to the Memory card slot.

Are you sure? I think I read somewhere that the SD Media Launcher works a bit different...

emu_kidid do you know about the freeze in Wind Waker if you launch it(retail or backup doesn't matter) on a Wii with a loader? I'm not asking for details about it, but i would like to know if you know about it and if SD-Boot running on a Wii would fix it. If you run the game via MIOS, the MIOS patches the function __GXSetVAT() to make it work. Maybe the Wii is doing something differently from a gamecube that may be even relevant for emulators too. (well just thinking)

Is SD-Boot 1.0 released or is it still in development?

I remember how you could flash GCOS to your modchip (viper extreme and qoob pro) and boot your gamecube straight into GCOS. I did it once myself. Will the next sd-boot have that ability?

I would probably use it instead of cobra 2.1 on my viper extreme, because your feature list so far is much better (SD card support, memory card manager, game dumping to sd, etc). As long as you make the interface themeable like cobra 2.1 :P

mmmh, SD-Boot flashed on a chip would be aaawesome :)
well, there's the chane to implement sdboot in the cobra bios and flash it to the ViperGC....that's just one step more :)
please search before you ask - a lot has been discussed already!

Hey!

I have both, a GameCube and a Wii, but only my Wii is modded. I can run .dol's from the SD-Gecko via homebrew channel, but I don't have an ActionReplay to run .dol's off my SD-Gecko on the Cube.

Emu-kidid wrote that SD-Boot 1.0, or however it will be called, will have stripped functions when running on the Wii, since it's a Gamecube application. I was wondering which features exactly will be unavailable? I've seen SD-Boot working on a Wii already, so I wouldn't know what kind of magical tricks the next version will offer that won't work on the "newer" system =3

I have both, but I don't know if I should order an ActionReplay/another homebrew-launching disc already or not.

Thanks in advance for the reply!

I'm just guessing here, but it shouldn't have access to any of the characteristics the Wii has but the GC doesn't:
Bluetooth (wiimote), wifi, SD slot, usb.

That's not what I meant. What I meant was that on the GC you will *supposedly* have access to some exclusive functions that are unavailable on the Wii. I'm wondering to what extent the Wii-booted application will be inferior to that on the GameCube.

Foxi4, only thing I can think of is being able to read dvd-r natively on the GC without a mod.
