"Disc does not contain valid word at 0x1C"
I'm sorry if this has been posted before.
I just got my Wasp and Megadrive v3 in the mail (thanks to badassconsoles).
I did the solder jumpering that was in the video on his website. I got Swiss v0.3 Rev 296 to start up. It shows icons for the first 10 or so games on my SD card. Those games seem to work fine. When I select a game with an icon that does not show, I get an error "Disc does not contain valid word at 0x1C"
I am not the most tech savvy person, so I have no idea what this means. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Just an update. I formatted the SD card to Fat32, and then only put a few games on the card around ten, some that worked before, and some that did not). All the ones that worked previously still work, and some of the others worked too. But there are still some that give the error. I'm assuming that it must be something I'm doing with the SD card (it's a 64 gig SDHC, I don't know the brand). Any information will help. Thanks

The WASP/Wiikey Fusion can only read up to the first 32GB of any card, that's your issue.

Could be a fake sd card as well. Ebay is flooded with them i got a 128gb microsd card for my cell phone and it was fake. I paid 80 dollars for it so naturally i thought it was real given the fact that the clones were going for 20 dollars. Man what a fight that was that guy i bought it from would not agree with anything so i had paypal handle it.

Re: "Disc does not contain valid word at 0x1C"
Well I only loaded about 10 gigs or so, and it still wouldn't read some games.
I probably is a knock off, but it still holds more than 32 gigs. So I'm not sure why it stopped before 10 or so.
Thanks guys

I'm pretty sure it's actually 64GB, and if you use a 128GB card it will only be able to access the first half of it.emu_kidid wrote:The WASP/Wiikey Fusion can only read up to the first 32GB of any card, that's your issue.

That's what I thought too. According to the wiki, it support 64GB. Maybe it supports it, but only uses some of it?Streetwalker wrote:I'm pretty sure it's actually 64GB, and if you use a 128GB card it will only be able to access the first half of it.emu_kidid wrote:The WASP/Wiikey Fusion can only read up to the first 32GB of any card, that's your issue.

Check the md5 of the files on the card, compare them to the ones you have on your pc. If you have an SD gecko, try to play the games with it. Also check whether your files are fragmented, wasp doesn't support fragmented files and current Swiss builds can't work around it.

Ok, I'm a noob. What's md5?
Re: "Disc does not contain valid word at 0x1C"
Yes, my bad, 64GB*. I'd check the MD5's, get a program like HashCalc and run the files from the SD and on the PC through it.

Re: "Disc does not contain valid word at 0x1C"
Aha, I did the MD5 check. One game that didn't work was FZero. On the SD, the MD5 is e20c1c94c13a384d0854e932a1936af9, but the original file is b3e4932731c63b98f0617e6764cc364d.
Same with Wind Waker: SD gives me 1813a2f99340e79bd3e3257ffde27965, but original file is d8e4d45af2032a081a0f446384e9261b. I have no idea what any of this means haha.
So I guess that leads to a cause. But what's the solution?

Check your SD card with some testing program or get a refund. It sounds like it's garbage data after a certain point in memory.

I have a 64GB SD and after about the sixth game I put on I get the same error. Strange thing is my computer won't read it either.emu_kidid wrote:The WASP/Wiikey Fusion can only read up to the first 32GB of any card, that's your issue.

That sounds like it's an 8GB SD pretending to be a 64GB SD.

Pretty much. I just ran a test on it. 7.7 GByte OK, 54.7 GByte DATA LOST. Shitty SD card. Time for a refund.

I was talking to the other guy, but yeah. Ouch.

Yeah, it looks strange. Crummy printing.tueidj wrote:That sounds like it's an 8GB SD pretending to be a 64GB SD.

Looked like this when I bought it.
What software did you use to test it? I want to test mine.JohnSmith1882 wrote:Pretty much. I just ran a test on it. 7.7 GByte OK, 54.7 GByte DATA LOST. Shitty SD card. Time for a refund.

It took a few hours for me, so be patience.

Re: "Disc does not contain valid word at 0x1C"
Hi, I'm also encountering this issue.
I used the latest version of Swiss (685) and ripped Pac-Man Vs. to a known-good FAT32 256GB SD card in an SD2SP2 board. This same card had been used on other flash devices.
When I attempt to open the .GCM, I get the "Disc does not contain valid word at 0x1C".
I've tried copying the .GCM to a smaller, 16GB SD card with the same results in both Serial Port 2 and from a Memory Card port.
I'm using an Action Replay to boot Swiss.

Re: "Disc does not contain valid word at 0x1C"
I as well am encountering the same error. My equipment is an 1024 gb SD card, on an sd2sp booting swiss with a xeno chip and the first few games I encounter can be loaded, however the majority default to this error message.

@Mr. T: I was successful after doing my ripping with CleanRip. https://www.gc-forever.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1432
You may also wish to do a "proper" format of your SD card: https://www.retrorgb.com/sdformat.html

Still wonder what's the use of such a dumping utility in SWISS while SWISS itself can't use them.

Of course, CleanRip works, but I was speaking of the dumper in SWISS's file manager. What's the use of those .GCM image files it outputs? There must be a reason why CleanRip's routines hasn't been integrated directly into SWISS, and I wonder why.
