Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
I'm not sure what the ceiling is, but I'm using a 128GB SDXC with no problems. It came formatted as exFAT, and the WKF only reads FAT or FAT32, but I reformatted it as FAT32 and it worked perfectly.
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
If I remember correctly, only 32 or 64GB can be addressed, even if the bigger SD card is recognized.
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
Not true, my whole card is addressed.badsector wrote:If I remember correctly, only 32 or 64GB can be addressed, even if the bigger SD card is recognized.
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
Up to 64GB is supported, you can use larger cards but you can only use the first 64GB on them.
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
Try starting every ISO on a full 128GB card, it should not work.Xaranar wrote:Not true, my whole card is addressed.badsector wrote:If I remember correctly, only 32 or 64GB can be addressed, even if the bigger SD card is recognized.
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
The FAT is always stored at the beginning of the partition, that's why it lists the files, but it won't be able to play games as badsector pointed out.
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
Huh. Well I'll be damned. Makes sense I guess, as I haven't yet got 64GB worth of stuff on there yet so I've not run into any problems.
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
So, why do you state then, that all of your card can be addressed?

Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
thanks guys for the info , much appreciated
edit...........
btw can you use shrunk ISO's ?

Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
I shrinked most of my ISOs and use them with the WKF/WASP.
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
How does one shrink an ISO? And doesn't that increase loading times as it has to decompress on the fly?
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
Shrinking ISOs only removes garbage data from discs. A lot of games don't use up the whole disc. No compression is involved, but some games can break when shrunk.
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
The tool I use is called "GCMUtility".

Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
there is no "compression" of these isos.
you are thinking of something like zip files...
as streetwalker pointed out:
shrinking an iso is just removing the empty space on a disc since not all titles use the full 1.4GB layer. Some titles are only a few hundred MB in size
The games that break are certain titles that expect certain data at a particular address location on the disc. Once you shrink a title, the address location has changed which makes the data unable to be found. This is how shrinking can break a title. only some are affected, most are fine.
Just to clarify, 64GB is the largest size accepted thru the WKF/WASP slot.
Swiss can read up to 2TB from SDGecko / IDE-EXI

Is there a reason for this limitation, in terms of hardware? Is it possible to make it larger sizes can be addressed?megalomaniac wrote:Just to clarify, 64GB is the largest size accepted thru the WKF/WASP slot.

Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
The max size is a hard limit set in the code and can cannot be changed since the source has not been released
remember WKF was released somewhere in late 2009 and created to support WBFS filesystem, not FAT32
most SDHC cards were only released supporting up to 32GB size
even newer SDXC 64GB cards wont work with WKF/WASP unless you reformat the card from exFAT to FAT32
considering we can even use 64GB is a bonus
considering we can even use FAT32 is an even bigger bonus

Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
I had never even heard of the WBFS file system until I came across the WKF, does it exist outside of the WKF, or is it something proprietary? It's not natively recognised by Windows. It seems odd that a piece of hardware would be designed around using a very niche file system, considering FAT32 is supported by everything except your toaster.

Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
WBFS was invented by a couple of twits who were too lazy to implement FAT support and thought it would be a better idea to make up their own crap. It wasn't until later that other people had the "genius" idea to store whole WBFS partitions in single files, providing FAT32 support. Why they thought this was a better idea than simply supporting plain old .iso files is anyone's guess...
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
So... you had whole WBFS images, stored on a FAT32 partition? And contained within are game backups? If I understand that correctly, that's really arse-way backwards.tueidj wrote:WBFS was invented by a couple of twits who were too lazy to implement FAT support and thought it would be a better idea to make up their own crap. Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
That's correct.
Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
It's like storing entire FAT partitions on NTFS with a single file in it, very backwards.

Re: WASP Fusion , maximum SD Card size ?
So we can use SD cards that are 64 GB with Wasp, how should they be formatted?
Does it matter that brand of the card?, or is it hit or miss with compatibility?

Can anyone help with some info.... I'm looking to get a SD card for my WASP, is it picky about what card I use? See previous post.
