Resurfaced gamecube game error

I had a gamecube game resurfaced and its giving me a message saying an error has occured. They did multiple buffings to get rid of some deep scratches. Is this disc dead for good?

Most likely, you would have been better off leaving the deep scratches and attempting to fill them in.
